Kid-friendly kalguksu restaurant at Siheung Premium Outlets: Pyeongi

There are days when you're just craving noodles that are especially chewy and hot, right? I had an errand at Siheung Premium Outlets, so I didn't hesitate to head straight for the outlet's kalguksu spot, 'Pyeongi Dambaek Bone Kalguksu.' Here's my visit report!

Where is Pyeongi Dambaek Bone Kalguksu inside Siheung Premium Outlets, and what is the appreciation event?

If you visit on a weekend, it's an intense staring contest to grab a seat, but I timed my visit for a weekday lunch, so thankfully there were plenty of open tables and I could sit down comfortably haha.

The kitchen is open-style, so you can see at a glance how spotlessly the interior is kept, which made me trust the place even more.

Near the entrance, I noticed a special customer appreciation event was running!

Two set menus for one adult and one child, with the chili and pepper left out

Since I came with my son, I ordered filling set menus so he could eat too.

• Bone kalguksu with suyuk set: ₩19,000
• Mixed kalguksu with meat dumpling set: ₩15,000

I remembered the bone kalguksu being just a touch spicy from a previous visit, so I ordered the sets thinking I'd feed my son the suyuk (boiled pork) or dumplings instead if the soup turned out too spicy. After ordering, I looked at the menu again and noticed there was actually a separate 'kids' option without cheongyang chili pepper or black pepper!

I was debating whether to mention it, thinking 'well, it's probably already in there...' when the owner brought out the food and kindly said, 'Since it looked like you were eating with your child, I already left out the cheongyang chili pepper and pepper for you' — and a wave of gratitude washed over me!

How do the bone kalguksu, bibim kalguksu, dumplings and suyuk taste?

The set dishes arrived quickly, prettily topped with simple, neat egg garnish.

Bone kalguksu

A big chunk of bone comes in whole, and the meat was so tender it fell right off. The broth was rich and hearty, and the chewy noodles slurped down beautifully — truly excellent.

Bibim kalguksu

The sauce was tangy, spicy, and sweet all at once, really waking up the appetite, and combined with the crunchy vegetables it made for a fantastic specialty dish.

Meat dumplings and suyuk

The dumplings were packed so full inside that biting in released a burst of juice. The tender suyuk was great with garlic and cheongyang chili, or wrapped up with kalguksu noodles on top — either way, amazing!

The fresh geotjeori (unfermented cabbage kimchi) here tastes like it's made daily, so I highly recommend getting a refill — you won't regret it haha.

Tips before you go: receipt review ice cream, water station and final verdict

On your way out after eating, be sure to join the Naver receipt review event — you'll get a 'Yomamttae' ice cream, perfect for cleansing your palate!

For reference, there's a separate water station inside the store, but there's no tissue there — you'll need to grab some from the counter.
