A place that was great for a little healing
Whenever I'm craving proper specialty coffee near Gyodae Station, I naturally end up back at Mini Male Coffee Roaster.
Their lattes especially are excellent — nutty with a deep, distinct bean flavor — and the desserts are varied too. This time I stopped by before an appointment to read a book over a cup of coffee.
A small, minimal café down a Gyodae Station alley
Getting off at Gyodae Station (Line 3) and heading out Exit 6 into the alley toward the court, Mini Male Coffee Roasters appeared with its modern, clean exterior.
The interior had a stylish white-and-metal look with black tables — sleek and sophisticated.
The café isn't large, but given its location near offices, the court, and law firms, it draws a steady stream of visitors who mostly take out, so seats freed up quickly.

What the signature Helsinki latte tastes like
The main reason I keep returning to Mini Male is the coffee. The beans themselves are excellent, so whatever you order has good nuttiness and balance — but since I love lattes, I usually go for their signature Helsinki latte.
Unlike a regular latte, you get both the nuttiness of the milk and the rich depth of the espresso — heavier, with a subtle sweetness rather than anything artificial, the kind of taste you keep thinking about.
Since it's a coffee-focused café, they also roast their own beans and make drip bags to sell, which a lot of home-brewers pick up. With Chuseok (Korean thanksgiving) coming up soon, I saw plenty of people buying them as gifts that day too.
Chewy New York levain cookie, and the hotteok babka that sold out
For a dessert to go with the coffee, I picked the handmade New York original levain cookie.
One great thing about Mini Male is the variety of desserts — bread, cookies, baked goods — so there's plenty to choose from.
Honestly, what I'd really wanted that day was the hotteok babka (sweet Korean pancake-style babka), but it was already sold out. It seems to be popular enough that it disappears past lunchtime. A bit of a letdown, but the levain cookie was delicious too.
It was packed generously with nutty pieces and chocolate chips, pairing really well with the Helsinki latte.
A great café to spend a relaxed weekday afternoon over good coffee and dessert — a nice place to recharge solo before an appointment near Gyodae Station.
