Pyeongtaek bakery café with free parking and annex seats: Cafe Pomun

In short

Cafe Pomun is a large bakery café on Chudam-ro in Icheung-dong, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, laid out as a main building plus an annex. On a Sunday visit at 1:30 pm the main building's second floor and terrace were both full, so the order — chestnut matcha (bam malcha) chocolate cake, three financiers and an iced americano — was enjoyed at an annex window table. With a wide free parking lot and small courtesies for pregnant guests and young children, Cafe Pomun is worth reaching early on weekends.

Looking for a place to grab coffee in Pyeongtaek on a weekend afternoon, I finally visited Cafe Pomun (cafe 4moon), a spot I'd had my eye on for a while~ The bread, the space, and the owner's kindness were all wonderful that day ^^

Two buildings at Cafe Pomun: the main café and the annex

Cafe Pomun is split into a main building and an annex, and while you order in the main building, staff will bring your drinks over even if you sit in the annex. The main building has a vintage, cozy vibe, while the annex is said to have a bit more of a kitschy feel~

Sunday at 1:30 pm: could we get a seat?

I visited around 1:30 pm on a Sunday, and the second floor of the main building was already completely full!!! There were a few seats left on the first floor, but the terrace was also full. So we headed to the annex, and even there the tables were down to our last option…

Only a window seat was left. The popularity here was really something.

The annex has high ceilings and big windows, so the sunlight pours in beautifully. There wasn't just one photo spot — there were dozens.

Annex furniture by DEUL: buy it via the table QR code

There's another reason the annex is special: it's a space made in collaboration with furniture brand 'DEUL' (들), so scanning the QR code on the table pulls up product info and a purchase inquiry for the exact piece of furniture you're sitting on. If you like the chair you happen to be sitting in, you can look it up on the spot^^ It was a much more fun experience than I expected.

The best touch: free sweets for pregnant guests and kids

Near the register at Cafe Pomun there's a sign saying pregnant customers get one baked snack free. Honestly, seeing that sign touched my heart a little.

To our pregnant guests, we'd like to offer even a small bit of help with one free baked snack. No badge needed — just let us know comfortably!

On top of that, children ages 0 to 7 were being given free warm milk or juice. Seeing a sign put up just to be good to expecting moms made this space feel really warm. And the service itself was so kind, too.

What we ordered: chestnut matcha chocolate cake and three financiers

Table with ordered desserts and coffee at Cafe Pomun

Salted caramel financier, maple black sesame madeleine, apple fig cinnamon financier, matcha coconut financier, hwangchi cheese financier, raspberry blossom, lemon custard madeleine… I nearly ran out of time just picking. What we chose was

Chestnut matcha chocolate cake with iced americano
Three financiers and cake laid out on the table
  • Chestnut matcha chocolate cake
  • Iced americano x 2
  • Pistachio financier
  • Hwangchi cheese financier
  • Salted caramel financier

The chestnut matcha chocolate cake!! This thing is seriously amazing. It's not sweet at all — the deep flavor of matcha hits right away, and there are chestnut pieces tucked in throughout~ You can taste in one bite that they're not skimping on ingredients.

The three financiers each had a distinct personality too. The pistachio had a strong nuttiness, the hwangchi cheese was salty and soft, and the salted caramel was crisp outside, moist inside, with that salty umami finish..

They paired really well with the americano. The staff recommended drinking the americano straight rather than through a straw~

Leftover bakery items packed up at Cafe Pomun
They kindly pack up any leftover bakery items for you.

On the way out, I asked to pack up the leftover bread, and they wrapped it carefully and beautifully. A place that keeps you feeling good right up to the last moment. Cafe Pomun in Pyeongtaek — it's left me with really good memories. I'll be back :)
