Suwon bakery café at 9am with mushroom cream soup: Orange Bagel

In short

Orange Bagel is a large bakery café on Omokcheon-ro in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi. On a Sunday 9am visit, Orange Bagel served a Laugen butter bagel, a scallion cream bacon bagel, mushroom cream soup and an iced orangeano across two floors styled like an American bagel shop. Arriving before 10am meant the full bread lineup was still on display, making Orange Bagel a satisfying early-morning brunch stop.

Trying to decide where to go on a Sunday morning, I ended up at Orange Bagel, which has been getting hyped lately as one of the hot bagel spots among Suwon cafés. But even at 9am, there were already quite a few people there! I didn't expect so many people to be enjoying coffee and bagels this early in the morning… turns out everyone was there for their morning coffee, haha.

Location, parking, and the 9am scene at Orange Bagel

Orange Bagel is at 129 Omokcheon-ro, Gwonseon-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and it's open daily from 07:30 to 21:00 (last order 20:30), year-round. True to its reputation as one of the bigger cafés in Suwon, the parking space was pretty generous too.

When there's nowhere to park, the stress starts before you even get to the café — but here there was plenty of parking, so driving over was no problem at all. I visited around 9am on a Sunday and people were already there in numbers. Everyone seemed to be there for their morning coffee and bagels.

It's 9am right now!!! Looks like everyone came for their morning coffee~

I was surprised to see delivery orders coming in and people grabbing takeout even this early. Big cafés are usually busy from late morning or lunchtime, so seeing this many customers so early made it clear this is a place the neighborhood really relies on. From that first impression alone, I could tell this was a place known for Suwon bagels.

Maybe because of the name Orange Bagel, the whole place had a bright, fresh feel to it. The building itself is on the larger side too, so it catches your eye from far away, and with the parking lot full of cars, it clearly lives up to its reputation as a popular Suwon bakery café.

What the first and second floors felt like inside

Stepping inside Orange Bagel, the space was spacious, true to its size. It seemed like a good spot to sit at a table with a bagel and coffee and just spend some time, and fine for groups too. Even with quite a few customers this early, the space itself is so large that it didn't feel cramped.

Since I visited on a Sunday morning, the café was full of people enjoying their morning coffee — some sitting quietly with a drink, others grabbing bagels to go.

Seeing this vibe, I could kind of understand why people looking for Suwon cafés show up so early. Going before 10am meant I got to see every kind of bread on display, which was great!! It's a good place for a light coffee brunch in the morning, or just to sit back and chat comfortably.

Personally, what I liked most about Orange Bagel was the interior atmosphere itself. I already thought it looked nice in photos, but seeing it in person, it was even prettier than I expected. Each floor, from the first to the second, is decorated with its own vibe, so I ended up going just for bagels and leaving having toured the whole café too, haha.

The moment I stepped onto the first floor, the atmosphere felt a bit different from your typical bakery café. It kind of felt like walking into a bagel shop for brunch while traveling in the US? True to the name Orange Bagel, it felt bright and casual, with American touches everywhere!! Once you pick a bagel, order your coffee, and sit down, it really feels like you're at some neighborhood bakery café in America.

The way the bagels were displayed matched the overall vibe of the café so well that it looked even prettier. There are a lot of pretty cafés these days, but here it's not just the interior that's nice — the whole space where you eat your bagel and coffee feels like a concept in itself.

Then I went up to the second floor, and it was really pretty too! 😍 Usually big cafés decorate the first floor nicely and leave the second floor a bit plain, but at Orange Bagel both floors had their own charm, which I liked. Upstairs felt more relaxed, a good place to sit back with coffee and a bagel, and the space itself was spacious enough that it didn't feel cramped either.

Relaxed seating on Orange Bagel's second floor

Going up to the second floor, the American vibe felt even stronger. The colors and the way the space is decorated feel a little different from a typical Korean bakery café, so for a moment I felt like I was abroad. You know that scene of sitting comfortably with a bagel and coffee on a trip to America? That's the vibe you get a small taste of here in Suwon.

So I felt like it would be a shame to describe Orange Bagel as just another Suwon bakery café. The bagels taste great, sure, but the interior is so pretty and the atmosphere so distinct that touring the café itself is half the fun. If you're looking for a café with an exotic feel in Suwon, or want a brunch with a slightly different mood than usual, come to Orange Bagel!

There were a lot of people there for their morning coffee, and plenty grabbing bagels to go, but I'd think people who come to enjoy the café atmosphere like I did would love it too. If you're hunting for good Suwon bagels and also want to enjoy a pretty café along the way, Orange Bagel is a pretty satisfying choice.

The main reason I came to Orange Bagel was the bagels, of course. There were so many kinds available that I paused for a moment deciding what to pick, lol.

In the end, I went with the Laugen butter bagel and the scallion cream bacon bagel. To go with them, I ordered mushroom cream soup and an iced orangeano for my drink.

The ordered bagels, soup, and orangeano

Orange Bagel is apparently known for its Laugen bagels, so I looked it up a bit before visiting. Laugen bagels are made a bit differently from regular bagels — they have that distinct pretzel-like flavor, with a slightly salty exterior and a chewy texture as their signature.

Laugen butter bagel: taste and texture

I started with the Laugen butter bagel!!! Compared to a regular bagel, the first thing that hit me was the salty flavor on the exterior. Then when I bit in, there was that signature chewiness — not the tough kind, but a springy chew that came with a subtle, pretzel-like nutty flavor. I loved it!!

Pretty photo too, right? Haha. There was butter inside, which added a nutty richness to the otherwise plain bagel. With the bagel's own salty, nutty flavor plus the soft richness of the butter, it went perfectly with coffee. Ah, so this is why people seek out Laugen bagels, I thought, haha. At first I figured all Suwon bagels would be pretty similar, but the Laugen's distinct flavor really had its own character.

Scallion cream bacon bagel

The second one I tried was the scallion cream bacon. It had a completely different vibe from the Laugen butter bagel.

Cross-section of the scallion cream bacon bagel

The mild scent of scallion, the softness of the cream, and the salty flavor of the bacon all came together in one bite for a pretty rich flavor.

With the cream added, the bagel's chewy texture felt a touch softer, and the saltiness of the bacon kept popping in so the flavor never felt flat.

Mushroom cream soup served alongside the bagels

Mushroom cream soup and iced orangeano

Since bagels alone felt like they might not be quite enough, I also ordered the mushroom cream soup. Eating warm cream soup alongside made the meal feel much more substantial than just having a bagel. The smooth cream base with that distinct mushroom aroma paired well with the bagel too. Especially after the chewy, plain Laugen bagel, taking a spoonful of the warm, soft soup gave a nice contrast in texture. With the soup added, it definitely felt like a proper brunch, more than just bagels alone.

For my drink, I went with something a bit different — an iced orangeano. With orange in the name, I was curious what it would taste like, and the coffee had a refreshing citrus touch that made it feel quite different from a regular iced Americano. Pairing this refreshing drink with the bagels and cream-based dishes gave my palate a nice reset in between. It wasn't just the bitterness of coffee — the bright orange note added to it, and personally I really liked it!! If you're hunting for good coffee in Suwon and want to try something a bit different, this menu item is worth a try.

Of everything I tried this time, the Laugen butter bagel was definitely the most memorable. The salty exterior, chewy texture, and buttery richness flowed together naturally, giving it a charm distinct from a regular bagel. If you like pretzels, the Laugen bagel's signature flavor will probably feel like a nice surprise. It's also a solid choice if you're looking for a café outside Seoul to drive out to for a relaxed brunch, or a good stop for a weekend outing around Gyeonggi-do. Whether you're after a Suwon brunch café or you just love bagels, this place is worth a visit.

Final thoughts

I wondered if it was really worth going out for bagels this early in the morning, but after actually visiting Orange Bagel, I was glad I got moving early. The chewy, salty charm of the Laugen butter bagel, the rich flavor of the scallion cream bacon, the warm mushroom cream soup, and the refreshing orangeano — all of it was good.

If you're a fan of Suwon bagels, the Laugen bagel especially is worth trying, and if you want a relaxed weekend brunch, I'd recommend this as a Suwon brunch café. Getting up early and moving to enjoy good bagels and coffee made me feel like I started my day early, and that felt good too. ^^
