Wild garlic and soy-chili dips at Gwanggyo lamb rib spot Hwaro Yangmi

I heard there was a good lamb rib place near Gwanggyo, so I checked it out. The mixed set was great and the meat was so tasty — here's my Hwaro Yangmi review!

Where Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Station Branch is and when it opens

Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Station Branch is really close to Sanghyeon Station. Parking is in the building's lot.

This is the inner entrance inside the commercial building, but there's also an entrance from outside — worth noting! It's popular enough that there can be a wait during busy hours.

Partitioned seating that makes Hwaro Yangmi a group dinner pick in Gwanggyo

You can tell why Hwaro Yangmi is a favorite for company dinners in Gwanggyo just from the seating. Every table is partitioned off! I saw a lot of tables with coworkers eating together.

The center partition is a blind, so you can open it up and expand the space if needed 👍

And of course, there are wide-open sections like this too!! Looks like you could book a big group dinner without any worry haha

There's a spot in the middle of the restaurant that looks like a self-serve bar, but it's actually for staff only — just so you know!

This is near the register, and since they sell lamb, there's a little sheep doll lol. There was even a good-luck charm doll, which was cute haha

You can actually watch the lamb being chill-aged in person. The lamb at Hwaro Yangmi is never frozen, not even once, apparently!

At the entrance, there's ice cream set out that you can grab one of on your way out.

Check out the review event! It says soju or beer, but apparently soft drinks work too.

There's a nice range of set menus, worth taking a good look through. Besides the meat, there are also various Chinese dishes on the menu.

So many kinds of gaoliang (Chinese sorghum liquor)...

The pricier liquors were also sold by the glass.

Each of us got a small plate with salt and cumin salt (zhiran) at our seat. There's also cumin on the table.

Inside the Special Mixed Set: three lamb cuts over charcoal

The Special Mixed Set comes with shoulder rack, lamb sirloin, and seasoned mini rib. It's just the right amount for two people!!

They put charcoal into the grill on the side of the table and start grilling right away.

There's a vent positioned right where you need it, so no worries about smoke or smell!

It's almost like watching a little fire show lol

They grill it so smoothly and well. If you're looking for a Gwanggyo lamb rib place where they grill it for you, it's Hwaro Yangmi! 🫶

The shoulder rack they grilled first! Since it's well-managed chilled meat, they grilled it to about medium.

Soy sauce with green chili vs myeongi (wild garlic) wraps: which dip wins?

We tried dipping it in a bunch of different combos, and personally, dipping it in soy sauce with pepper on top felt the cleanest and best to me. My husband said wrapping it in wild garlic (myeong-i-namul) was tastiest for him haha. The meat on the bone, like the shoulder rack or mini rib, was especially savory.

The rib pulls apart really easily, so it's super convenient to eat! Eating each cut one by one, you can really feel how different they taste by part. Ordering the mixed set meant we could enjoy a variety. The shoulder rack has a soft texture, the lamb sirloin is low in fat and chewy, and the seasoned mini rib has a slightly spicy seasoning that made it a great accent. If you only order one kind, you'd probably get sick of it fast, but switching between them made it even more delicious.

Fluffy and well-seasoned — perfect as a side dish.

The portion might look a little small, but

the noodle soup was packed with yellow corn noodles! haha

If you're expecting a mild broth, it might catch you off guard! The seasoning is on the strong side, but it's delicious haha. With the mixed set for two plus two side dishes, it was just the right amount for us as a couple!

Recommended as a Gwanggyo lamb rib spot! The lamb mixed set was a great combination to eat, and having them grill it for us made things so, so easy! ☺️
