Busan beef tripe restaurant, solo meal with potato sari: Bupyeong Yang
In short
Bupyeong Yang Gopchang is a yang gopchang (grilled beef tripe and intestines) restaurant on Bupyeong 2-gil, near Kkangtong Market in Nampo-dong, Busan. On an Nth return visit during a solo trip to Busan, the writer ordered the usual stone-pan sauce version with potato and bunmoja (glass noodle) sari added, then finished with fried rice and a complimentary patbingsu (red bean shaved ice). It was a first time eating yang gopchang alone, and Bupyeong Yang Gopchang made it easy to sit down and clear the whole pan.

Hello, today's Busan food diary! This time I traveled to Busan alone and, after a while, finally went back to a place I really love in Nampo-dong: Bupyeong Yang Gopchang.
I've visited so many times whenever I come to Nampo-dong, Busan, that I've lost count of which visit this is — an Nth visit! That's how often this place comes to mind whenever I'm in Busan. Last time I came with my husband, but this time, since I was traveling solo, I decided to try eating alone! Going to eat yang gopchang by myself was a first, so I was a little nervous, but once I actually walked in, the vibe turned out to be surprisingly comfortable for solo dining, and I ate really well 😁👍 So let's get into my revisit review of Bupyeong Yang Gopchang, a yang gopchang spot in Nampo-dong.
Where is Bupyeong Yang Gopchang, and where do you park?

Bupyeong Yang Gopchang, a restaurant in Nampo-dong, Busan, is located near Kkangtong Market in Nampo-dong. If you're taking the subway, get off at Jagalchi Station Exit 3 and walk about 437m to reach it.
It's also a great spot to walk to while exploring Nampo-dong or Kkangtong Market, so it's a good option for anyone getting around Busan on foot and looking for a good restaurant in Nampo-dong. There's no dedicated parking lot, so if you're driving, use the nearby public parking lots.
Personally, I think Nampo-dong is fun to explore on foot using public transit since there's a market and plenty to see nearby, grabbing something delicious along the way.
Can you eat alone here? Outdoor tables and the annex at Bupyeong Yang Gopchang

When you think of Bupyeong Yang Gopchang, a restaurant in Busan, this atmosphere is unforgettable! Out front there are outdoor tables perfect for sitting down in this cool weather, giving off that classic Busan street-stall vibe. Of course it's not just outdoor tables — there are indoor seats further in, and there's even an annex right next to the main building, so there are actually quite a lot of seats overall.
It's great for group gatherings or work dinners, but dining alone this time wasn't much of a burden either. I was a bit worried — is it okay to go eat yang gopchang alone…? — but once I walked in, I ended up eating comfortably and thoroughly from start to finish. Bupyeong Yang Gopchang, a great restaurant in Nampo-dong, Busan, works well whether you're solo or in a group.
What to order: the stone-pan sauce yang gopchang, the same every visit

Bupyeong Yang Gopchang's menu ranges from stone-pan sauce to salt-grilled to hotpot! No matter how many times I visit, what I order at Bupyeong Yang Gopchang stays the same. It's the stone-pan sauce version! It's my favorite menu item here, so I ordered it again this time without even thinking twice. If you're looking for a yang gopchang spot in Nampo-dong, this is the dish I'd personally recommend you try at least once.

And once the basic side dishes were set out—

Today's main dish, the stone-pan sauce yang gopchang, arrives!

No matter how many times I see it, this visual always gets me excited.
On a large stone pan, yang gopchang arrives loaded with red sauce, and the staff cut and prep everything into bite-sized pieces for you, so all you have to do is wait comfortably.
As it slowly reduces and the sauce really soaks into the tripe and intestines, the smell alone is out of this world!

How do potato and bunmoja sari taste in the stone pan?
And then the potato and bunmoja I ordered as extras arrive too.

Honestly, the sauce for the yang gopchang itself is so good that pretty much any sari (add-in) goes well with it.

Among them, I'd especially recommend bunmoja (glass noodles) and potato! The chewy bunmoja really soaks up Bupyeong Yang Gopchang's rich sauce, and that combination was so good. The potato also took on the spicy-sweet sauce and had a lovely fluffy texture. The chewiness of the bunmoja and the fluffiness of the potato are so different from each other that adding both together kept things interesting instead of getting repetitive.

Which cuts come in the stone pan: yang (tripe), daechang (intestines) and heart
The stone-pan sauce comes with a variety of cuts like yang (tripe), daechang (large intestine), and yeomtong (heart), so it's fun to pick through and try each one! From the chewy tripe to the savory intestines and the satisfying bite of the heart, every cut has a totally different texture, so I never got tired of eating even after a while.

Fried rice to finish, then free patbingsu
And of course, fried rice is the way to finish! I was already pretty full, but not eating fried rice with all this leftover sauce? Absolutely not happening.

They fry the rice properly in the remaining rich sauce, so the sauce soaks into every grain, and the savory, spicy flavor kept me eating even when I was already full!

And at the very end, they even brought out patbingsu (red bean shaved ice) as a complimentary service 👍 After the spicy yang gopchang and fried rice, finishing with a cool, sweet patbingsu really cleansed the palate. I ate well and happily on my own, but eating it made me think of my husband without meaning to. I should've come here with him — ugh 😂 Next time I visit Busan, I'll definitely bring him along and eat here again!
Even on my Nth visit, Bupyeong Yang Gopchang, a great yang gopchang restaurant in Nampo-dong, Busan, was still just as delicious!
