Haenggung-dong brunch café with fig choco ciabatta: Caffeine Focus

In short

Caffeine Focus is a three-story bakery café near Changnyongmun Gate in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, where the ciabatta is baked in-house every morning. Four friends took a window table for four on the second floor and shared a fig choco ciabatta for 6,800 won and a ciabatta sandwich for 14,000 won, and both the fig choco and the coffee beat expectations. With strong air conditioning, blankets, wifi and a clean third-floor bathroom, Caffeine Focus suits a group brunch and solo work equally well.

Ciabatta and coffee at Caffeine Focus

The four of us finally got together after a while, and we went to a café with fortress-wall views in Haenggung-dong that a friend had been saving up.

Today I'm introducing a place with great ciabatta and coffee — "Caffeine Focus."

Where is Caffeine Focus? Near Changnyongmun Gate, with powerful air conditioning

Caffeine Focus is a 3-story bakery café near Changnyongmun Gate in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. It was that in-between time of blazing summer and fall, and the sky was such a clear, deep blue that day.

The moment we arrived, a sign saying "AC is on full blast" caught my eye right away. What a lifesaver in summer! Walking into a hot café in the middle of summer is rough, so the owner's mindset here is legit.

Ciabatta varieties at Caffeine Focus and what the four of us ordered

At Caffeine Focus they bake ciabatta in-store every morning. There was a good range — plain, cheese olive, squid ink, sandwich versions and more. Even before we arrived we were already debating what to get, and in the end all four of us fumbled our way through ordering together.

The Basque cheesecake looked delicious too, but today was a bread-craving kind of day 𓂃

I wanted to try the ube cream latte too, but as a thoroughly typical Korean who needs an americano to wake up... I end up picking iced americano every single time.

There were also plenty of not-so-common drinks like avocado smoothie, coconut ube, and hibiscus lemon ade.

Taste test: fig choco ciabatta, ciabatta sandwich and coffee

Drinks and bread on a window table for four
Table setting at a 2nd-floor window seat

It's a 3-story building with tables for 2 to 4 people, and we sat at a window table for four. Chatting over sandwiches for brunch felt relaxed and lovely :)

Ciabatta tastes best fresh on the day it's baked, but you can also freeze it and thaw it later. There's even a guide for that, so it seemed great for takeout too. They say it has no chemical additives, so even people who can't handle regular wheat bread well should be able to eat it!

Fig choco ciabatta held up for a photo

This fig choco was SO good, highly recommend!! I didn't expect much from the coffee, but it turned out to be way better than expected — this place is a coffee gem too!

I held up just the bread by itself for a photo, and my friend who also blogs said she's not there yet and was impressed haha haha (friend, let's become power bloggers together lol)

Inside of a ciabatta sandwich with basil pesto

The sandwich was tasty for my taste, but it has basil pesto(?) inside, so pick based on your own preference (my parents don't like it, so just in case any of my blog friends feel the same, I'm rambling about it here)

To show you a bit more of the 2nd-floor view, from where I sat it's an L-shaped layout. There's water, wifi, and blankets too, and the 3rd-floor bathroom is really clean, which I loved (*you know this is a real priority point for women, right?*)

Third floor at Caffeine Focus: tucked-away corner seats and the terrace

I took this photo myself, but just looking at it makes me feel calm and good~

There were people sitting at these dodge seats working on laptops. Great to come with a friend, and also great to come alone for solo work or just to take a break .ᐟ

Bonus: there's terrace seating too~

Granola received for a receipt review

I went back and forth on whether to do a receipt review, but my friend Ttottto wanted to try the granola so I ended up doing one after all — the granola is delicious, recommend!
