While searching for a good restaurant near Goyang Starfield, I found a place that really satisfied me: Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch. It's a name that keeps coming up as a Samsong restaurant to visit, and after going in person, I can say the reputation wasn't exaggerated. It's located in the Eparkworld City Samsong commercial complex, so it was easy to get to and parking was convenient too.

What comes in the 34,000 won set at Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Samsong

After sitting down and looking over the menu, I ordered the ₩34,000 set that came with galchijorim, dombegogi, and Eunhui-ne haejangguk together. At first I wasn't sure if getting all three of these for ₩34,000 was actually good value, but once the food arrived, I completely understood.

Boneless galchijorim: braised cutlassfish that eats a bowl of rice

The boneless galchijorim (braised cutlassfish) took over the table first. What makes this place's galchijorim special is exactly that — it's boneless. Galchijorim usually means picking out bones and losing focus on the meal, but with it served boneless, I could focus entirely on the flavor. The deep red sauce coated the cutlassfish flesh evenly, and when I lifted a piece onto rice, the spicy, savory sauce seeped into the rice grains and a whole bowl disappeared in no time. This galchijorim is one of the reasons this place is known as a Samsong haejangguk restaurant. For anyone visiting Goyang Starfield who likes galchijorim, I'd strongly recommend this place. Above all, since it's boneless, both elders and kids can enjoy it without worry. The naturally soft, clean flavor of the cutlassfish blended perfectly with the sauce.

Jeju-style dombegogi dipped in salted shrimp sauce

When the dombegogi arrived, I was impressed again. True to Jeju style, thick slices of pork sliced right off the cutting board (domae) were served generously. The meat pulled apart softly along its grain, and the clean, nutty flavor of the pork itself came through. Dipped in salted shrimp (saeujeot), a salty umami note was added, bringing out the distinctive richness of the dombegogi. The spicy, bold flavor of the galchijorim and the mild, tender flavor of the dombegogi took turns complementing each other really well. Among Samsong restaurants, it's rare to find a place where you can enjoy both of these dishes at once.

Eunhui-ne haejangguk simmered from 24-hour bone broth

The Eunhui-ne haejangguk (hangover soup) arrived bubbling in its stone pot. This signature dish is based on bone broth simmered for 24 hours, generously packed with napa cabbage and meat. One sip filled my mouth with a rich, savory bone broth aroma and warmed me right up from the inside. It's a clean broth without any gamey smell, yet still deep in flavor. The napa cabbage had soaked up plenty of the broth, and eating it together brought out a soft, mild flavor. This one bowl of soup explains exactly why this place keeps coming up as a Samsong haejangguk restaurant.

Eating all three dishes together at one table

Enjoying all three together made for a really abundant spread. Finishing one bowl of rice with the galchijorim, another bowl with the dombegogi and saeujeot, and wrapping it up with the haejangguk broth made for a perfect meal. For ₩34,000, this lineup ranks among the best value restaurants near Goyang Starfield.
