Goyang soup restaurant with broth refills and 240g dombe pork: Jeju

In short

Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch is a Jeju-style haejangguk (hangover soup) and tripe soup restaurant in Goyang, Gyeonggi, right across the street from Starfield Goyang and a short walk from Exit 3 of Samsong Station. On a weekday evening the order was a medium dombe pork (240g, boiled pork sliced on a wooden board) and tripe soup, with one broth refill so the rice could be eaten in the soup, and the seonji (beef blood curd) was springy with no gamy smell. Monday hours end at 15:30, so check the opening hours before an evening visit to Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk.

Today I'm bringing you a review of a Samsong restaurant I visited for dinner haha. It's Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch — the idea that I could get the rich haejangguk (hangover soup) I used to have to fly to Jeju Island for, right near my house, was exciting, so I went with half anticipation, half curiosity. Hope this helps if you're looking for a haejangguk spot in Samsong-dong or a good place to eat near Starfield Goyang!

A dol hareubang statue at the door: inside Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk

Right at the entrance of Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch stands a dol hareubang (Jeju stone grandfather statue), which fills the place with Jeju island vibes.

Spacious interior with a Jeju Island map on the wall

The inside was much bigger and cleaner than it looked from outside. Honestly, from the exterior I expected it to be pretty small, so I was surprised at how spacious it actually was haha. As soon as you walk in, a map of Jeju Island is visible to the right. The clean, simple interior really stood out.

Celebrity autographs on the wall by the register

On the wall by the register to the left of the entrance, there were a lot of autographs from famous people, and just seeing that made me understand why this place is known as a Samsong hot spot. The whole place was kept tidy, so I could eat comfortably even in the evening, and the tables had generous spacing so I didn't have to worry about the neighboring seats.

What's on the menu and what was ordered this evening

Looking at the menu, there were a lot of set combos, which seemed especially good for anyone who wants to try several dishes at once. Besides the standalone haejangguk and tripe soup, there were various sets paired with dombe pork, so the options were quite wide. It was well set up so even solo diners could choose without much hesitation.

Table set with medium dombe pork and tripe soup

We ordered one medium dombe pork (240g) and one tripe soup.

The dombe pork had a good ratio of meat to fat so it wasn't heavy, and since it used ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly), the skin stayed nice and chewy, which made it taste even better. Wrapping it in lettuce with garlic and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) made me think of Hallasan soju, but since it was a weekday, I held back.

What's in the tripe soup, and how the beef blood tastes

The tripe soup came packed full in the ttukbaegi (earthenware pot), so it wasn't just a soup — there was fun in picking out different things to eat. The portion was plenty for two people to share.

The taste was pretty good overall. It wasn't overly spicy or salty, more of a balanced style that suits pretty much anyone. What I liked most was that the beef blood inside was super fresh, shiny, and had that springy texture, with absolutely no gamy smell. Beef blood dishes can go either way depending on freshness, but here I could eat it worry-free. Stirring in a little dadaegi (chili paste mix) turned the broth red and made the flavor feel even deeper.

Can you refill the rice and broth?

One of the strengths of Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch was that both rice and broth are refillable. When you go to guk-bap (soup-rice) places, the portion can sometimes feel a bit off, but here since refills are possible, it's definitely a satisfying choice for anyone who wants to eat until full. We also refilled the broth once and mixed it with rice, and it filled us up nicely haha. That kind of thoughtful detail made me like the place even more.

Today too, we left the table with the dishes basically done — and looking at how clean the plates were says a lot about how the food here tastes. This is definitely the kind of menu that comes to mind more as the weather turns chilly. When you need something hot, or want a hearty bowl of haejangguk in Samsong-dong, this is a great place to visit.

Careful on Mondays: Jeju Eunhui-ne closes at 15:30

Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch has kind of unusual hours — it's open every day, but on Mondays it closes at 15:30, so definitely check before you go. We actually showed up in the evening and got turned away.

Combining the meal with a trip to Starfield Goyang

After finishing the meal, it was a great route to head straight over to Starfield Goyang for some light shopping. If you're planning a trip to Starfield, it might be nice to pair it with this meal course. Walking a loop around Starfield after dinner as a little stroll would help the food settle nicely too.

Evening path leading toward Starfield Goyang

It was surreal to be able to enjoy this kind of flavor nearby without having to actually go all the way to Jeju Island. If you're looking for haejangguk in Samsong or a good restaurant near Starfield Goyang, Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch could be a great choice to check out. This was my honest review after ordering and eating there myself, at the Starfield Goyang-area restaurant Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch.
