The tables have plenty of space between them, so it works well whether you're eating alone, with family, or in a bigger group. Overall it has a comfortable, tidy Korean restaurant vibe — solid for a filling lunch, and it also felt like a good match for yukgaejang or bossam with a drink in the evening.

Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom centers on yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), with a range of dishes including yukkal-myeon, fresh-noodle yukkal-myeon, cha-dol yukgaejang, seolleongtang, and bossam. The yukkal-myeon in particular lets you finish the noodles and then add rice to the broth, making it a hearty full meal — the spicy broth also makes it a good match if you're after a Wonju hangover soup or gukbap!

Once you order, the basic side dishes come out neatly arranged. Seokbakji, seasoned fish cake, and chive salad come along with the meal, and ordering bossam brings fresh lettuce wraps, salted shrimp, and ssamjang too.

There's a self-serve side dish corner on one side, so it was easy to grab extra sides or small plates, and aprons were on hand too, which came in handy for the spicy soup dishes — nice touch!

Hanbang bossam: moist pork with no gamey smell

One of the dishes we ordered was the hanbang bossam! The pork came out sliced neatly and piled generously on one plate, so it looked great from the start.

The meat was soft and moist, and the subtle scent of the herbal broth it was boiled in meant it was clean and easy to eat with no gamey smell at all.

Wrapping the bossam with lettuce, salted shrimp, and ssamjang gave a nice balance of savory and light flavors — genuinely delicious! The portion was generous too, good for sharing among several people, and while it works as a meal, it's also a great match with a drink in the evening — highly recommend for a dinnertime visit! It also felt like it would pair even better with a warm soup dish, so we ordered one alongside it haha.

Is cha-dol yukgaejang better ordered as a hot pot?

This time we ordered the cha-dol (brisket) yukgaejang as a hot pot and shared it among several people! Simmering it at the table made the spicy, rich yukgaejang broth even better with the savory flavor of the brisket mixed in.

It was loaded with green onion and all sorts of ingredients, so it was fun picking through the toppings along with the broth, and keeping it simmering meant we could enjoy it piping hot all the way to the end — genuinely hearty, love it! Ordering it alongside the hanbang bossam made for a great combination — filling as a meal, and just as good as a side dish with drinks in the evening.

Overall, the portions were generous and the broth was spicy enough to make for a satisfying meal at Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom! With options ranging from hanbang bossam to cha-dol yukgaejang, it works well for a meal or with a drink, and it seems like a solid pick whether you're after a Wonju lunch spot, a Wonju dinner spot, or somewhere to cure a hangover. Next time I want to try the yukkal-myeon too, so I'll definitely be back to this Wonju gukbap and bossam spot!
