Cheongna Mexican restaurant with a 3,500 won kids meal: Taco Dot

Jane and I went for dinner at Taco Dot, a great restaurant in Cheongna :) We'd visited once before and Jane said she wanted to eat there again, so this time we went back.

Last time the kids meal came with a character-shaped hobbang (steamed bun), but this time the menu seemed to have changed a bit. So we ordered the fajita and quesadilla set to share with Jane. The tortillas and sauces were unlimited refill, so we could eat as much as we wanted, and the portions were more filling than expected — we left satisfied.

Parking and the dining room at Taco Dot Cheongna Branch

We drove to Taco Dot Cheongna Branch, and there was parking space right in front, so it was easy to park. It looked like about 5 cars could fit in front of the store. The sign clearly reads Mexican barbecue restaurant Taco Dot, so even first-timers shouldn't have trouble finding it.

The moment we walked in, a Michael Jackson song was playing, and Jane got excited as soon as she heard the music ♥‿♥ The interior, decorated in white and wood tones, was spacious and clean overall.

The tables weren't cramped together, and a high chair was ready, so it was fine to dine with a child. I imagine plenty of couples come here on dates too, and it also seems like a good option for family outings or a meeting spot in Cheongna. If you're looking for a great restaurant in Cheongna to visit with your kid, I think this vibe works well :D

Ordering the fajita and quesadilla set, plus the 3,500 won kids meal

There were so many menu options that we had a hard time deciding, but

we ended up ordering the fajita and quesadilla set with Sprite, plus extra cilantro since my husband loves it. The quesadilla lets you choose between chicken and shrimp, and we went with chicken.

Last time the kids meal came with a character-shaped hobbang (steamed bun), but this time the lineup seemed a bit different. The ₩3,500 kids meal now includes cheese quesadilla, fried rice, chicken nuggets, tomato salsa, sweet corn, and orange juice or soy milk. Instead of the hobbang from before, it now comes with chicken nuggets, and this time we just ordered a separate quesadilla for Jane since that's what she likes :) If you're visiting with a child, the kids meal is worth checking out.

They were also running a Naver review event — write a review and get a free lemonade, so keep that in mind if you visit.

The kitchen was semi-open, so you could see the food being prepared in the back, and it looked well-kept and clean, which I liked.

When you want to try several dishes at once like we did, ordering a set is a good idea. If you're looking for a taco restaurant in Cheongna but want more than just tacos, the fajita and quesadilla combo works really well together.

A generous fajita skillet with shrimp, chicken and pulled pork

After a short wait, the fajita arrived first. On the hot skillet were shrimp, chicken, pulled pork, and fried rice, laid over a bed of onions and vegetables.

It came with tortillas, jalapeños, sour cream, salsa, salad, cilantro, and pico de gallo made from finely chopped tomatoes and onions. With so many ingredients, it was fun piling whatever we wanted onto the tortillas and wrapping them up.

Topping the pulled pork with the tangy pico de gallo made it fresh and light, and adding salsa gave it a nice kick of heat that kept us reaching for more.

The shrimp was firm yet clean-tasting, and the chicken was on the tender side. The pulled pork shredded apart softly along the grain, which made it delicious piled onto the tortillas. Personally, I liked loading a little of each ingredient onto one bite :)

Since we were eating with a kid, we set aside the spicier sauces and mainly gave her the meat and fried rice. Since everyone builds their own wrap, it worked well for the family to eat according to their own tastes.

How thick is the chicken quesadilla?

The chicken quesadilla came out soon after. It looked quite thick from the outside, and inside it was packed with chicken and cheese. Eating it while it was still warm, the cheese was melted soft and paired nicely with the chicken.

It was tasty even on its own, but dipping it lightly in sour cream added a softer flavor and a whole different feel. The tortilla was toasted crisp, giving it a slightly crunchy outside and moist inside. I cut it into bite-size pieces for Jane, and she ate it better than expected :) If we'd only ordered the fajita, it might have felt a little lacking, so I'm glad we added the quesadilla too.

Unlimited tortilla and sauce refills

One of the things I liked about Taco Dot, a great taco spot in Cheongna, was the unlimited refills on tortillas and sauces. Tortillas tend to run out quickly while eating the fajita, so it was convenient being able to ask for more whenever we ran low ෆ

You could also pick sauces according to your taste — sometimes adding a bit more salsa while wrapping meat and vegetables, other times piling on extra sour cream. My husband loves cilantro, so he added plenty of that. I also liked that they prep fresh ingredients every morning and make their sauces in-house, showing attention to every detail.

Why we went back to Taco Dot Cheongna Branch with our child

After our last visit, Jane said she wanted to eat there again, so we came back and this time ordered the fajita and quesadilla together. The fajita especially worked well for a family visit since you can eat the meat, shrimp, fried rice, and vegetables separately, or wrap whatever you like into the tortillas — great for sharing dishes among family members.

It was a great restaurant in Cheongna to visit when you want to try Mexican food with your kid, like we did. If you enjoy combining various ingredients to your own taste, like with tacos or fajitas, it's worth stopping by at least once. We came back because Jane wanted to eat here again, and having the fajita and quesadilla together this time gave a different feel than before.
