Had such a rewarding Jeju trip! Feels weird to skip the souvenirs, but since this was a lighter, simpler trip, I decided to just grab something easy for my parents.

Whenever I finish a Jeju trip and head home, I always end up agonizing over what to buy. This time I wanted to pick something a little different from usual.

I always just grab familiar stuff like chocolate or cookies, but this time I wanted something that really captured the Jeju feeling.

That's how I found Today Jeju — the second I saw the dol hareubang-shaped madeleines, they caught my eye haha.

I love cute things and I love edible gifts, so this became my Jeju souvenir pick this time.

Where Today Jeju is in Yeondong and how to find the entrance

Today Jeju Shilla Duty Free Shop Jeju Branch is on the 1st floor, 69 Noyeon-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, South Korea, open daily 10:00–19:00. Takeout, reservations, waiting area, and easy payment are all available. The location can be a little confusing the first time you go.

Since it's called Shilla Duty Free Jeju Branch, I just walked straight to the duty-free main entrance haha, and ended up having to ask at the info desk. Let me save you the trouble!

Instead of the duty-free main entrance, head toward the parking tower entrance and the store comes right into view.

If you happen to go in through the back parking tower entrance, just keep walking straight — good to know.

We stopped by right before returning our rental car in Jeju, and since parking was available, we could look around comfortably. It also fit nicely into the route for grabbing a Jeju souvenir as our very last stop.

Inside Today Jeju: the 8 Harubangne flavors on the shelves

Walking into Today Jeju, the color scheme immediately felt Jeju-themed and cute. Dol hareubang figures and products were displayed everywhere, which made picking a Jeju souvenir kind of fun, and overall it was clean and just a hareubang paradise haha, so cute.

What caught my eye most was, of course, the Harubangne — madeleines shaped like Jeju's dol hareubang, so just looking at them screamed Jeju.

The shape itself is more special than a typical dessert, which fit exactly what I was looking for in a Jeju dessert this time. The flavor lineup was pretty varied too.

Flavors included chocolate, prickly pear, matcha, Earl Grey, carrot, black sesame, fig, and Hallabong, with some available in chocolate-coated versions too.

There was also Ang-butter Harubangne and Harubang Sand in Udo peanut and Jeju tangerine flavors, so it was easy to pick something to your taste.

On one side of the store there were also Jeju goods like badges, pouches, and notebooks — plenty of lightweight Jeju souvenirs to pick up while traveling.

The Harubangne 8-flavor set chosen as a gift for parents

This time I bought the signature Harubangne 8-flavor set as a gift.

I usually buy chocolate on every trip, but this time I wanted a Jeju gift that felt a bit more special and captured the local vibe. In the end, the dol hareubang shape was what really won me over.

The madeleines are already cute, but shaped like the dol hareubang that represents Jeju, they feel like much more of a travel keepsake than a plain snack. Another thing I liked was that it doesn't feel like a burden to receive.

Since it's an edible Jeju dessert, the recipient doesn't have to store some pretty object forever — the family can just share it out, which seemed convenient from the receiving end too.

The packaging was clean too. It came all put together in a Jeju-themed shopping bag and box, so there was no need to wrap it separately, and it wasn't bulky, so it fit fine in a suitcase.

With a gift, what's inside matters, but so does how easy it is to carry around haha. After I got home and gave it to them, they said it looked adorable right away, and after tasting it, said it was nicely sweet and delicious.

I was a little worried Jeju desserts sometimes look pretty but taste so-so, but this one actually tasted better than expected, which was a relief. I also liked that it's individually wrapped, so it's easy to pull out one at a time.

Since you can pick from several flavors, it doesn't get boring the way eating just one flavor over and over would, and you end up chatting about how it's a snack brought back from Jeju while eating it.

Verdict: does the frozen Harubangne set travel to Seoul?

Instead of picking chocolate like usual this time, I went with Today Jeju's dol hareubang-shaped madeleines, and it turned out more satisfying than I expected.

It's cute-shaped, carries the Jeju atmosphere, and since it's a Jeju gift that disappears once eaten, it doesn't feel like a burden.

Especially if you're looking for a Jeju souvenir that isn't too predictable but is still practical, this kind of Jeju dessert seems like a good option. And for gift purchases, they hand it over frozen, so it easily lasted the trip all the way to Seoul! They also mark the expiration date on each one separately!
