Today I've got an honest review of "Madam Hao," a pho spot near Ajou University! I live near Ajou, so when a new pho restaurant opened up, I had to check it out haha😆

Madam Hao's storefront and how easy it is to find

The exterior of Madam Hao is very clean since it just opened, and the Vietnamese-style interior really stands out! It's only a 3-minute walk from a bus stop, so accessibility is great too👍🏻 It's also close to Ajou University, making it perfect for lunch or dinner.
How roomy is the dining room at Madam Hao?

The inside of Madam Hao is quite spacious and clean. I went on a weekday afternoon and there were still quite a lot of customers! There are seats by the big windows near the front as well as further inside, so it's spacious enough for larger groups too.
What's on the menu at Madam Hao
Madam Hao's main menu includes pad thai, beef brisket pho, beef jjamppong pho, beef bibim pho, tom yum ramyeon, and tom yum pho — a lot of items I'd never seen before! Tom yum ramyeon is apparently ramyeon flavored with Thai-style spicy and sour spices. A Vietnamese pho restaurant serving Thai food too..!!! There are a lot of distinctive menu items here 👍🏻
The side dishes are varied too — bun cha, fresh spring rolls, cha gio (fried spring rolls), banh khot (half-cut) and more. The banh khot looks like a small fried dish with shrimp inside! They said it's more like pan-fried than deep-fried.

They also had detailed instructions on how to eat each dish, so even people unfamiliar with Vietnamese food can eat comfortably!

There were instructions for eating banh khot, cha ca la vong, and bun cha, and the photo above is cha ca la vong! I'd never heard of that dish before, but looking at how to eat it, it seems similar to a mixed noodle dish!
Free shrimp chips and the sauces on the table

Madam Hao gives you complimentary shrimp-chip-flavored crackers along with pickled radish, lemon juice, and chili peppers! Those shrimp chip-like crackers are such a great appetite-boosting starter haha lol

There are also sauces at every table, so you can add whichever sauce you like to your pho.
Beef brisket pho: broth and portion size

Madam Hao's beef brisket pho comes with thin, large slices of meat plus savory noodles and broth — and the broth was the real standout! It has a savory, deep flavor that's still clean, and the portion is huge, making it perfect for a filling lunch.
The pho looks really appetizing, and above all, the restaurant is so clean that it's a pleasant place to visit!
The amount of toppings was huge, and the noodles were seriously plentiful too! Broth flavor really varies from one pho restaurant to another, but Madam Hao's is clean with deep flavor😆

We ordered just two pho bowls, and both were the kind of gentle-on-the-stomach dishes that are perfect the day after drinking — Ajou students, if you had a heavy night out, come to Madam Hao for a hangover cure the next day😂
How does beef jjamppong pho differ from Korean jjamppong?

My friend ordered Madam Hao's beef jjamppong pho, and she said that while jjamppong itself has a slightly heavy, salty broth, jjamppong pho is cleaner and deeper — making it more suitable as a hangover cure!
The jjamppong pho's visuals are seriously next level too. It's the kind of dish you'd crave the morning after drinking.

The jjamppong pho also had a generous amount of noodles and toppings, so we left completely full! If you eat it during a free period, you'd stay full until dinner👍🏻 You get hungry so fast during classes, but this portion really keeps you going.
There was also plenty of meat, so you get to eat meat with the noodles all the way to the last bite!!!
2 free cha gio from the Naver review event

Madam Hao is also giving away 2 cha gio (fried spring rolls) as part of a Naver review event, so pairing two bowls of pho with some cha gio is the perfect combo👍🏻

This newly opened spot near Ajou University has parking available, and every dish has a clean, deep broth base, so I think it'll appeal to a wide range of tastes! Since I live nearby, I'll be dropping by whenever I'm craving pho 💗
- ✔️Clean and spacious restaurant
- ✔️Distinctive menu
I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a great pho restaurant near Ajou University or a good pho lunch spot near Ajou💗
