₩30,000 omakase sushi lunch in Cheonan Buldang-dong: Ganghan Sushi

This time I wanted a hearty sushi lunch in Buldang-dong, so I headed to Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch. I ordered the 12-piece omakase sushi and added fried shrimp and raw salmon sushi, and the total came out to exactly ₩30,000.

I got to try a wide variety — flounder, salmon, tuna, shrimp, eel, and even gunkan-style rolls — and the meal came with mini udon, seafood croquette, and miso soup, so it felt like a really generous lunch. I could easily use the building's underground parking, and the store even let me self-register for up to 2 hours of free parking.

The signboard outside the store noted that ordering sushi comes with udon, seafood croquette, miso soup, and washed aged kimchi, and that takeout is also available.

The First Plaza building where Ganghan Sushi is located has an underground parking lot. I parked in the building's basement lot myself, and since it's the same building as the restaurant, it was convenient to get to.

The parking lot is split across basement levels 1 and 2, so driving there wasn't much of a hassle. In Buldang-dong you sometimes have to hunt for separate parking when eating out, so it was nice that Ganghan Sushi has its own building parking lot to use.

2 hours of parking, self-registered on the tablet

After finishing my meal, I used the parking registration tablet set up inside the store. I entered the last four digits of my license plate, hit the lookup button, and registered my parking time — that's all it took. Self-registration gets you up to 2 hours, which was plenty of time while eating sushi. I didn't need to ask staff for help; the whole process was simple and done myself.

Inside Ganghan Sushi: about 5 tables

There are about 5 tables total, so it's not a large restaurant. Seating isn't abundant, but there was more than enough space to sit down for a meal of a sushi set and side dishes.

Because the restaurant is on the small side, it was easy to sit back and slowly work through several kinds of sushi. Each table has an ordering tablet, so if I wanted to add anything, I could order right from my seat.

Plates, cups, and small side plates were all neatly organized in one corner.

Ganghan Sushi menu and prices

The set menus ranged from Ganghan Sushi 12p at ₩14,000, to Ganghan Special Sushi 12p at ₩17,000, up to Omakase Sushi 12p at ₩23,000. You could also choose sets made entirely of raw salmon, flounder, or tuna.

If you wanted more of the same kind, you could also order a 6-piece menu. Besides raw salmon, flounder, and tuna, there were separate options for shrimp and flame-seared sushi too.

Side dishes included fried shrimp, takoyaki, house-made cold buckwheat noodles, and udon.

Beyond sushi, there was a wide range of choices including a whole freshwater eel rice bowl, a raw salmon bomb rice bowl, and house-made pork cutlet.

The 30,000 won lunch order

I ordered the 12-piece omakase sushi, 3 fried shrimp, and 2 pieces of raw salmon sushi. The base price of the 12-piece omakase sushi was ₩23,000, which came to ₩26,500 after adding the 3 fried shrimp. Adding the 2 pieces of raw salmon sushi for ₩3,500 brought the total to exactly ₩30,000.

The sushi came to 12 pieces total, with a wide variety including flounder, salmon, tuna, shrimp, eel, and gunkan-style rolls. It also came with mini udon, seafood croquette, and miso soup, which made the whole spread feel far more generous than ordering sushi alone. With the fried shrimp on the side too, I got to eat a bit of everything and finish off a filling, satisfying lunch.

What comes in the 12-piece omakase sushi set?

The sushi came out lined up in a single row on a long wooden plate. It ranged from familiar fish like flounder, salmon, and tuna to shrimp, eel, and gunkan-style rolls, all on one plate. What I liked most was that it wasn't repetitive — I got to taste a different ingredient with each piece. Rather than eating the same kind of sushi over and over, there was some fun in picking what to try next.

It even included combinations you don't often see in a standard sushi set, like a piece topped with sea urchin over shrimp.

There was also a salmon piece topped with onion and sauce, so the set didn't feel one-note even within a single plate.

The omakase sushi came with a mini udon. Having a warm noodle dish alongside 12 pieces of sushi made the meal feel even heartier.

Despite the small bowl size, the udon had both noodles and fried tofu in it.

Seafood croquette and miso soup came out too. Rather than just getting a plate of sushi, being able to work through the udon, croquette, and soup one after another made the ₩23,000 omakase sushi set itself feel like a lot of food.

Adding 3 fried shrimp and 2 raw salmon sushi

I added 3 fried shrimp as a side. The long shrimp were coated in batter, and it was nice to have something different to mix in while working through the sushi.

I also added 2 pieces of raw salmon sushi. The omakase set already includes a variety, but I wanted a bit more salmon, so I ordered it separately. Since you can add it in units of 2 pieces, it's a handy way to get more of whatever kind of sushi you like.

That's 14 pieces of sushi total, with a wide variety including flounder, salmon, tuna, shrimp, eel, and gunkan-style rolls all in one set. With mini udon, seafood croquette, and miso soup on top, it really felt like a generous meal.

With around 5 tables, the restaurant isn't large, but it was a decent space to slowly enjoy sushi and side dishes. Best of all, I could easily use First Plaza's underground parking, and entering my license plate at the tablet inside the store got me up to 2 hours of self-registered parking. This is a place worth remembering when you want a hearty lunch of varied sushi in Buldang-dong without worrying about parking.
