Is it a bad habit? I've gotten hooked on hunting down good dessert spots lately, and this time I loaded up on bread and desserts near Balsan Station. Enter Byway Bakers! With salt bread, financiers, butter rice cake, and egg tarts all on offer — and every single one delicious — this turned out to be a much more satisfying Balsan Station dessert café than I expected.

Where is Byway Bakers, and what are the hours?

Byway Bakers is a dessert café located at 678-1 Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, near Balsan Station. It's open daily from 09:00 to 20:00, but there's no parking available. Reservations can be made through Naver Reservations.

Walking in, you're greeted by rows of bread on display — salt bread, financiers, egg tarts, and more — so there's real fun in picking what to try.

I love butter rice cake and egg tarts, and seeing them right as I walked in made me so happy haha.

Ordering a full tray: salt bread, financiers, butter rice cake and milk tea

I loaded up on salt bread, financiers, egg tart, butter rice cake, and milk tea at Byway Bakers. Seeing the tray piled up like in the photo was pure happiness…💗

The salt bread wasn't the trendy crispy-outside, soft-inside style — it was more overall soft. But the salt flavor here is seriously amazing..💗 The bread itself is fluffy and soft, but with bursts of salty flavor throughout that really hit the spot. There are so many places selling salt bread these days that I usually don't get too excited, but the salty punch here was exactly my taste haha.

The financiers had a great chewy texture. That signature nutty baked-goods flavor combined with a chewiness that got better with each bite kept me reaching for more. And don't even get me started on the butter rice cake…

The surprise winner at Byway Bakers: the egg tart

But the egg tart I picked up without much thought turned out to be absolutely insane… lol. It's seriously seriously so so good. I'm obsessed with egg tarts and I have to admit this one's a winner..!!🥹 Cut it in half and the inside is packed with yellow filling that's incredibly soft and moist ㅠㅠ (I want more already ㅠㅠㅠ). The outer tart shell is crispy while the inside is creamy, so the texture combo was great, and the top was baked to a nice golden brown — truly delicious. Honestly, I went there for the salt bread and financiers but left most obsessed with the egg tart. If you're hunting for a Balsan Station dessert café and you love egg tarts, definitely add this one to your tray!

Is Byway Bakers near Balsan Station worth a visit?

I tried everything from salt bread to financiers, butter rice cake, and egg tart, and I was satisfied with every single item at this Balsan Station dessert café, Byway Bakers🥐 The salt bread was different from the crispy style so common these days — overall soft, but with a proper salty kick that made it a winner. The financiers were chewy, so as expected, a reliably good bite! The butter rice cake was delicious too, but personally the biggest surprise was the egg tart💗💗💗 I love egg tarts and try them all over the place, and this one had a soft, fully-packed filling that I'll probably buy again lol.
