What pork bone gamjatang for two looks like

I ordered the pork bone gamjatang for two. It arrived generously piled in a gamjatang pot, looking absolutely delicious. Over the spicy broth were heaped chunky pork bones, napa cabbage, enoki mushrooms, and green onion. Especially with the napa cabbage tangled among the pork bones, it looked savory and deep just from the sight of it. Gamjatang really should come out this loaded with ingredients. And it was even better that you could simmer it hot right at the table as you ate.

Side dishes: silbi kimchi, seokbakji and wasabi soy sauce

The basic sides were silbi kimchi, seokbakji, and a sauce. The silbi kimchi, heavily seasoned with spicy sauce, adds a kick to the savory, rich broth of the gamjatang and livens up the appetite—great with rice too. The seokbakji, cut into bite-sized pieces, has a crisp texture and refreshing taste. Pairing it with the deep, spicy broth of the gamjatang makes it even better. There was also a wasabi soy sauce prepared for dipping the meat picked off the pork bones.

How the broth and ugeoji cabbage tasted

Hanppong's pork bone gamjatang stands out for the harmony between the savory broth and the umami-rich napa cabbage. The broth, spicy yet deep, is great served hot, and the rich flavor drawn out from the pork bones adds to that characteristic gamjatang heartiness.

You can't skip the napa cabbage in gamjatang either. Eating the softly cooked napa cabbage together with the broth makes for an even tastier combination of savory and umami flavors. I picked the tender meat off the chunky pork bones and dipped it right into the sauce. And of course, as gamjatang simmers longer, the ingredients soak up more of the broth and the flavor deepens. I slowly simmered it and cleaned out the napa cabbage and pork bones completely. If you're craving a savory, spicy soup dish and looking for a good gamjatang spot in Dunsan-dong, I recommend Hanppong's pork bone gamjatang.
