Daejeon café with matcha ribbon pastry and laptop seats: Reelbakers

I can get to Tanbang-dong quickly by bus from home, and I used to come here a lot as a kid, so it's a really familiar neighborhood to me. This time I heard about a real bakery hotspot in Tanbang-dong, so I went to check out Reelbakers!!!

What kind of café is Reelbakers?

Reelbakers is a one-of-a-kind café in Daejeon!!! ❌Not a chain!!❌ If you're visiting Daejeon from out of town, this is a must-stop!

Reelbakers is open daily from 08:00 to 22:00, with last order at 21:30.

If you're taking the subway, get off at Tanbang Station. I took bus 105 and got off at the Hanwoori Apartment stop — it's about a 1-minute walk from there, so it seems pretty convenient to reach by public transit!!

The building has mechanical parking available!! (up to 2 hours only) Aside from that, roadside parking is possible on weekdays from 11:30 to 2:00 and after 6:00pm!!!

Seems like it'd also be a nice quick lunch spot for people working near City Hall Station, no??

There are two doors here~~ Pets aren't allowed inside, but you can have them with you on the terrace! I left mine tied up by the parking spot for a bit…!! This kind of thing feels totally Australian, love it

Inside Reelbakers: the Australian-style interior

The interior is super pleasant, spacious, and clean. It's got that vibe of coming in on a weekend morning to relax and enjoy good bakery goods and coffee??? A café that's great for reading, chatting, or working on your laptop 🥰😍😍

Reelbakers says their goal is to create a comfortable space, inspired by an experience in Australia, that people of all ages and genders can enjoy. Maybe that's why I saw such a mix of men and women visiting~~ (Some cafés are packed with only women, you know….haha) I ate really good coffee and bread when I was in Australia, so I went in with high expectations haha

I was surprised there were quite a lot of people even though I went on a weekday!!! It really must be a hotspot haha

There are lots of 2- to 4-person tables scattered around the place! I was working on my laptop and snapped a photo because the view was so pretty… there's a bar seating area too.

And there's a terrace like this too!!! Perfect for eating outside on a nice day. Or I'd recommend this spot if you brought your pet along~~

The restroom inside is clean too.

True to being a bakery hotspot in Tanbang-dong, there are so many kinds of baked goods!!! The croissants and salt bread all looked so delicious.

And the wagyu salt bread I'd only heard about by word of mouth!!! I was so curious about that one too. There were so many things I wanted to eat that I stood there deliberating for a while. Check the video for the full menu details 😊

You put whatever bread you want on a piece of parchment paper like this, and just tell them when you check out.

I love matcha tea… and it's shaped like a ribbon, which is so cute, I couldn't not pick it. Cute, right??

I thought it was just a pastry, so I didn't expect this much cream, but when I cut it with a knife, there was seriously a generous amount of cream!! Really sweet. The bread itself was insane too. Crisp on the outside and it tore apart along its layers so nicely. This was genuinely a proper bakery hotspot… a must-visit in Daejeon 😍 The americano was really nutty and delicious too. Not much acidity, and it paired so well with the bread. Honestly, this is exactly my taste, so I think I'll order an americano again next time too!!!

Surprisingly, they even have an oven set up here.

My friend had the new heart-shaped pistachio pastry, and the color was really pretty with plenty of cream packed inside. She said it was delicious!!!

Even the receipt has such nice vibes. Honestly a café I'd want to come to every single morning.

Is Reelbakers good for laptop work?

There was an outlet right next to the seat I sat at, so it was great for bringing a laptop and getting work done.

They also have a Naver review event going on!! I really wanted to win the gift certificate, but… sadly I came in 7th place and got a pen instead. But the pen was cute so I was happy with it. These little events made it fun.

Worth a visit near Tanbang Station and Daejeon City Hall?

I had no idea there was a bakery hotspot like this in Tanbang-dong. Next time I definitely want to try the salt bread!! It looked so good.
