When I want something hearty for lunch from Korean food options, nothing satisfies quite like bossam haha. This time I visited Park Man-bae Arirang Bossam, Wonheung Station Branch, which serves gabrisal (pork shoulder blade) bossam instead of regular bossam, so the texture was noticeably different from the start! And since ordering bossam comes with a free makguksu or kalguksu on the side, my satisfaction went up even more 👍

We parked in the underground parking lot and came up, and on the first floor there was a panel sign pointing the way!

Following the panel, the path to the entrance was easy to find, and the interior was spacious and clean — a good fit for solo diners as well as office workers' lunches or family meals.
Kiosk menu and the weekday lunch bossam set
Orders are placed via kiosk, so we could take our time looking through the menu and order comfortably. True to its reputation as a bossam restaurant near Wonheung Station, there were various bossam menu items, and we ordered the half-and-half bossam!

I also noticed a single-serving bossam set available for weekday lunch?! It's orderable for 2 or more people until 3pm on weekdays, and it's great value, so it's a popular lunch choice!!

Menu: Small half-and-half bossam (golden cabbage + kimchi) Price: ₩42,000
The moment the bossam arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was the shine!!! And true to its name, it came piled with golden cabbage and delicious-looking kimchi 👍

Taking one bite, the ratio of lean meat to fat was just right, making it really tender.
How is gabrisal bossam different from regular bossam?
The half-and-half bossam at Park Man-bae Arirang Bossam, Wonheung Station Branch, being gabrisal, had a moist, tender texture with no dryness that kept coming to mind hahaha. I wondered how gabrisal bossam differs from regular bossam, and the texture turned out to be unmatched..!

It was delicious dipped lightly in salted shrimp, and eating it with kimchi brought out even more savory flavor.

Wrapping it in cabbage and taking a big bite, the crunchy cabbage texture and the soft bossam texture came together perfectly, and it was truly the best haha.
How big is the free makguksu, and how does it taste?
The makguksu that came as a free side exceeded expectations too! The sauce was sweet and tangy, pairing really well with the bossam, and eating it in between bites felt refreshing to the palate. Eating bossam alone can get a bit greasy, but thanks to the makguksu I could enjoy it deliciously all the way through. It also had crunchy shredded cabbage and lettuce on top, giving it a slightly salad-like, refreshing feel!

I thought a free side dish would be small, but the portion was more generous than expected, which was great, great 👍👍
