Sinchon burger date at Bas Burger: Hawaiian vs The Bas Burger

In short

Bas Burger Yonsei Cancer Hospital Branch is a basement-level handmade burger restaurant on Yonsei-ro in Seodaemun, Seoul, near Yonsei University's main gate and an easy walk from Sinchon Station. A couple ordered one Hawaiian Burger (10,200 won) and one The Bas Burger (13,100 won) as single items and shared them to compare the pineapple-and-bacon build against the two-patty version, along with the potato chips offered free to dine-in customers. For anyone who wants a carefully made burger rather than fast food, Bas Burger is a solid choice for a Sinchon date.

Where is Bas Burger Yonsei Cancer Hospital Branch, and what is it like inside?

Every time I passed by, the exotic interior and the crowd of customers made me curious, so I finally went to Bas Burger!

It's near Yonsei University's main gate and within walking distance of Sinchon Station, so it's really accessible. Being close to Yonsei Cancer Hospital, a lot of hospital visitors seem to stop by too, and it's a popular Sinchon spot for college couples and office workers as well.

Modern interior and window seating at Bas Burger Yonsei Cancer Hospital Branch

The space was more stylish and modern than I expected. There are window seats too, so you can eat in a nice atmosphere.

True to a proper burger restaurant, the interior is thoughtfully decorated, and it's a comfortable space whether you come alone, as a couple, or with friends.

Ordering by kiosk at Bas Burger: what are the signature burgers?

10% off for employees... so jealous

There are several kiosks so ordering is easy. Counter ordering is available too! The kiosk instructions were posted so kindly, even for older customers — such a Severance Hospital touch, sensitive to everyone's needs ✨

The classic 'Bas Burger' with its soft patty and house sauce is the signature item, and the 'Mushroom Burger,' made with a whole deep-fried shiitake mushroom for extra flavor, looks popular too! Also, ordering it as a set lets you swap the side for sweet potato fries and add a milkshake, which seems to be a popular combo! Since I'm sort of(?) on a diet, I skipped the milkshake and sweet potato fries and just ordered a Zero Coke and the burger on its own haha.

Hawaiian Burger and The Bas Burger set on the table

My boyfriend ordered The Bas Burger (₩13,100), and I ordered the Hawaiian Burger (₩10,200). I usually like Hawaiian pizza too, so I figured a Hawaiian burger couldn't be bad, but it exceeded my expectations, ugh.

Hawaiian Burger, 10,200 won: pineapple and bacon together

My first impression when the Hawaiian Burger arrived was really good! You could see the fresh vegetables and juicy patty at a glance — and that plump pineapple, ugh.

The Hawaiian Burger has a beef patty, cheddar cheese, house sauce, butterhead lettuce, low-sodium bacon, and pineapple, and the combination was so rich in flavor. When the sweet pineapple meets the salty bacon, a whole layered flavor comes alive?! The bacon-pineapple combo is basically a cheat code.

Cross-section of a bitten Hawaiian Burger

The patty was savory and soft, with juices running out with every bite! I'm a bread person so I'm really picky about burger buns, but the bun here melts in your mouth. It's so soft and savory that (as you can see from the cross-section) even I, who usually can't finish a whole burger, polished it off, ugh.

The Bas Burger, 13,100 won: two patties and two slices of cheese

Think of The Bas Burger as the basic Bas Burger with double the toppings! It has two beef patties, two slices of cheddar cheese, house sauce, butterhead lettuce, onion, tomato, and more.

You might think the price is a bit high for a burger, but this is nothing like the fast food we're used to — it's a truly carefully made burger. Personally, I think it's tastier than Shake Shack...

Free self-serve potato chips at Bas Burger

And here's another great thing — the potato chips are free! (for dine-in customers) It's self-serve, so you can enjoy as much as you want. You don't even need to order fries. So freaking good.

While waiting for the burgers, we grabbed chips from the self-bar, sprinkled on ketchup, mustard, and pepper, and munched away at our seats — the burgers came out quickly, so it worked perfectly as an appetizer or side haha. These are the kind of chips that make you crave a beer, ugh.

Is a Bas Burger date in Sinchon worth it?

With a wide variety of burger menus, topping options, and side dishes like chicken or fried cheese, there are so many choices that this Sinchon spot makes you want to try one after another — that was my Bas Burger review :)
