Where is Café Meomureum? 2nd floor of Dongsin Shopping Complex, Jeongja-dong

Café Meomureum is a handmade bakery café on the 2nd floor of Dongsin Shopping Complex at 226 Jangan-ro, Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea. From the outside it looks like just another neighborhood café tucked into an apartment complex mall, but the atmosphere completely changes once you step inside.

I'd been looking for a café in Jeongja-dong with good vibes plus tasty drinks and desserts, and ended up at Café Meomureum. Since it's inside an apartment mall, I expected a basic neighborhood spot at first, but the atmosphere inside was totally different. Lots of seating variety and plenty of space made it a Jeongja-dong favorite that works well solo or for a group hangout.

Parking is always a low-key important factor when picking a café, and Café Meomureum was convenient since you can use the shopping complex's parking lot. We parked with plenty of room and headed up, which made it feel accessible for anyone driving over. The café sits on the 2nd floor of the Dongsin Apartment shopping complex.

Head up to the 2nd floor of the mall and you'll find Café Meomureum, at 226 Jangan-ro, Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea, 2F Dongsin Shopping Complex. Unlike the plain exterior, the atmosphere shifts completely once you're inside. I never expected such a pretty, well-designed café tucked into an apartment mall, and the space was bigger than I imagined too.

Café Meomureum opening hours

Monday to Friday 09:00–20:00, Saturday and Sunday 10:00–20:00. It opens at 9am on weekdays, which is nice if you want to stop by a bit early, and you can still get in from 10am on weekends.

Inside Café Meomureum: solo seats and group spaces

Inside Café Meomureum, solo seating and group seating are set up in separate zones. The tables are spaced generously too, so you can pick the vibe you're in the mood for.

Once inside, it was even prettier than it looked from outside. Table spacing was generous and there was enough seat variety to match whatever mood you were after.

On one side there are solo seats almost like a study café. If you want to use your laptop or study quietly, this section looks like it would be comfortable.

On the other hand, there's a separate space for groups, which looks great for chatting with friends or holding a small get-together. Good solo or with company, this is a spot I'd recommend to anyone hunting for a Jeongja-dong favorite café.

Café Meomureum menu: the four things ordered on this visit

What we ordered that day at Café Meomureum was bokja fresh fruit juice, Geomundo mugwort latte, salt bread, and apple pie. We went for something different from coffee on the drinks side, and tried two of the bakery items.

There's a wide range of drinks and their own handmade bakery items, so we spent a while deciding. In the end we ordered bokja fresh fruit juice, Geomundo mugwort latte, salt bread, and apple pie — going a bit different from coffee for the drinks, and trying one salt bread and one apple pie for dessert.

Bokja fresh fruit juice — peach and plum

First up, the cutely named bokja ("peach-plum") fresh fruit juice. Made with peach and plum, it let me enjoy sweet and tangy fruit flavors all at once. Rather than tasting artificially sweet, it leaned into the fruit's own flavor, which made it great for a refreshing sip. If you like both peaches and plums, I'd recommend the bokja fresh fruit juice.

Geomundo mugwort latte — fragrant and nutty

Then, out of curiosity, we picked the Geomundo mugwort latte. Mugwort's distinctive fragrant, nutty taste paired really well with the latte. Where the bokja juice felt bright and tangy, the mugwort latte was much smoother and nuttier to drink. The two were such different styles that switching between them was fun.

Handmade salt bread with gourmet butter

We paired the drinks with salt bread. Café Meomureum makes its own bakery items in-house, and the salt bread is handmade with gourmet butter. The crisp exterior plus the soft inside, topped off with the buttery flavor, went perfectly with the drinks. If you're not sure which bread to try at Café Meomureum, I'd recommend starting with the salt bread.

Apple pie at Café Meomureum

And the apple pie we ordered alongside it. Where the salt bread was on the savory, nutty side, the apple pie was great for a sweeter treat. The pie's texture plus the sweet apple flavor made it easy to pick up piece by piece as dessert. Getting one of each — salt bread and apple pie — to share with the drinks turned out to be a great combo.

Café Meomureum in Jeongja-dong: would I go back?

I went in with low expectations since it's a café inside an apartment mall, but Café Meomureum won me over more than I thought it would. Parking was easy, the interior looked great once we got inside, and the seating mix — from solo seats to group spaces — was a real plus.

I got to enjoy a couple of unusual drinks like the bokja fresh fruit juice and Geomundo mugwort latte, plus a good round of salt bread and apple pie. If you're looking for a Jeongja-dong favorite café where you can enjoy drinks and handmade bakery items and just settle in comfortably, I'd recommend Café Meomureum.
