Entrance of Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch

I wanted to eat until I was full somewhere packed with good food over the weekend, so I headed to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, a place known as a Nowon go-to.

I love sushi and sashimi, so I often go to sushi buffet chains, but this visit had way more variety than I expected — I left really satisfied. I'd especially wanted to visit after hearing they now have bead ice cream. Being right near Nowon Station also made it super easy to get to by public transit.

Parking and the atmosphere inside Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch

If you're driving, you can register for parking when using the restaurant, so it's easy to park and just take the elevator up.

The moment I stepped in, the space felt really wide and open — the kind of place that would work great for a family gathering or a company dinner. The staff guided us kindly and cleared plates quickly, so the whole meal felt clean and comfortable.

What sushi is on the Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch lineup?

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch's biggest strength is, hands down, its overwhelming sushi lineup.

The moment I walked into the buffet, I saw a long row of sushi stations and genuinely had to think about where to start. Starting with the basics, the flounder sushi, fresh salmon sushi, and smoked salmon sushi tasted so fresh that my chopsticks just kept going back for more.

There's also chewy squid sushi, octopus sushi, scallop sushi, cooked shrimp sushi, raw shrimp sushi, sweet shrimp sushi, and eel sushi.

The range of seafood sushi capturing the flavor of the sea straight up was really endless. There was also a wide variety of meat and unique sushi options for people who can't eat seafood, or who just love meat.

Beef sirloin sushi and other unusual sushi at Kuu Kuu

The beef sirloin sushi and thin-sliced beef belly sushi, both grilled over direct flame for smoky flavor, filled my mouth with a soft, savory richness, and the yukhoe (raw beef) sushi and tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patty) sushi that melted in my mouth, along with smoked duck sushi,

and even egg sushi — there was a solid lineup that anyone, kids to adults, could enjoy without complaint. The bite-sized rolls and gunkan (battleship sushi) section was also a treat for the eyes.

The flying fish roe gunkan that pops in your mouth, the soft and spicy-sweet tako wasabi gunkan, yukhoe gunkan, tuna mayo gunkan, crab meat gunkan — each of these full-of-character gunkan rolls really got my appetite going.

The roll selection was just as eye- and mouth-pleasing, from salmon rolls, California rolls, crunch rolls, eel rolls, and tako wasabi rolls to cheese rolls and premium rolls the size of futomaki.

Hot dishes and the made-to-order noodle corner

Beyond the sushi and sashimi, the hot dish corner and cooked dishes were incredibly strong too. This place doesn't stop at just being a Nowon sushi buffet — every other dish here was excellent too.

From glossy, golden-brown pork ribs to well-marinated LA galbi (grilled short ribs), moist and soft dongpo-yuk (braised pork belly), and all kinds of crispy fried dishes — every bite kept getting an 'wow' out of me, both in looks and taste.

At the live noodle corner, you can ask for jjajang, jjamppong, buckwheat soba, or udon, and they'll cook it fresh and hot for you on the spot — noodles with a rich broth like that were a real treat.

Seafood corner: soy-marinated crab, marinated prawn and steamed blue crab

The sashimi and seafood corner at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch was also solidly stocked. There was fresh salmon sashimi, cooked octopus, and tuna sashimi, plus the salty rice thieves — soy sauce marinated crab, spicy marinated crab, and marinated prawn — perfect for mixing into a bowl of white rice.

The cooked shrimp and steamed blue crab in particular had me digging in with both hands in disposable gloves — really great value. Slightly salty but addictively good. I became convinced this Nowon buffet is basically heaven for seafood lovers.

What is on the dessert corner at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch?

After filling up on the mains, I moved on to the dessert corner. It was gloriously stocked with bakery items and desserts, which rounded off the meal perfectly.

There was refreshing, sweet orange cake and pudding, various slice cakes, freshly baked crispy waffles, and cute bead ice cream,

plus snow flake bingsu, fruit, and soft serve ice cream — plenty of eye-catching desserts for visiting with kids too.

Is Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch a good spot for a family gathering?

Overall, I really liked how fast the food turnover was, so the ingredients always stayed fresh and warm.

Being able to enjoy all this high-quality sushi and food at such a reasonable price feels like Kuu Kuu's unmatched charm.

For anyone looking for a hearty, delicious meal, I'd strongly recommend this as a great-value restaurant in Nowon.
