Rainy-day café in Dong-gu, Daegu with four floors: Hands Coffee
In short
Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is a large standalone café occupying all four floors of a building in Hyomok-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu, right in front of Dongchon Resort. On a rainy weekend visit alone, the floors were compared one by one — the counter and seating on the 2nd floor, bar tables on the 3rd, floor seating and a rooftop bar on the 4th — over a blueberry cream cheese waffle, a caffè latte and an iced americano. With a large parking lot and a different mood on every floor, Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is an easy place to sit for hours when the rain leaves you nowhere to go.

It was the weekend and I was bored at home, and then it suddenly started raining so I couldn't go wandering outside either, so I went to a good-vibe brunch spot in Dong-gu, Daegu.

Where is Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch, and is there parking?
Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch, a brunch spot in Dong-gu, Daegu, is in Hyomok-dong, 778m from Exit 2 of Dongchon Station on Line 1.

It's a great spot to reach by public transit, but true to Daegu's large-café style, it also has a big parking lot, which made it really convenient by car too. I visited on a weekend and worried there'd be no spots, but plenty of cars were leaving and the lot was big enough that I parked with no trouble.

The Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is a standalone building used from the 1st to the 4th floor — the 2nd floor has the order counter along with seating, and you can pick a seat on the 3rd or 4th floor to your taste. If there's a specific spot you want, it seems best to claim it before ordering.

What's on the drinks and brunch menu?
This Dong-gu brunch spot is especially known for good coffee — the drink menu ranges from drip coffee to Dutch coffee, espresso drinks, juices and teas, all the way to desserts, really wide-ranging.

As a proper Dong-gu brunch spot, there's also a good range of brunch dishes prepared, and the Hands brunch set served on a tray looked really delicious.

You can order à la carte too, but going for the set with the discount seemed like a good idea.

Waffles, cakes and ice cream at Hands Coffee
Hands Coffee is also famous for its desserts, and among them I really love the waffles. Hands Coffee waffles are baked fresh and warm the moment you order, so they're incredibly good, and there are so many kinds too.

Cakes and waffles are all lined up together, so just choosing already makes you happy haha.

They also sell 5 kinds of ice cream made with organic milk.
2nd floor: the counter and forest-view seats

The interior of this Dong-gu brunch spot had a really great atmosphere — being so large, the seating is split into all kinds of different sections, and each area has its own mood, so it was hard to decide where to sit.

Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch has huge windows, and nearly every seat has a great view of the Dongchon Resort forest, so it's famous for its views too. Tables range from basic 4-tops to large group tables.
3rd floor: quiet corners and bar tables

Going up to the 3rd floor felt like a different, calmer mood from the 2nd floor. It's bigger than the counter floor below, so the tables are more spaced out, making it comfortable to enjoy drinks or dessert.
There are also bar tables set up so you can take in the view.

Since it's such a big café, it never feels crowded even with lots of customers — that's a real charm.
4th floor: floor seating and the rooftop bar

The 4th floor has yet another completely different, charming vibe from the 2nd and 3rd — there's even floor seating where you take off your shoes and sit.

I ended up settling on the 2nd floor, but there were so many great-looking spots on the 3rd and 4th that I seriously agonized over where to sit, alone, haha.
The 4th floor also has a rooftop bar with outdoor tables, but it was raining so hard the day I went that I couldn't use it.
How were the blueberry cream cheese waffle, caffè latte and iced americano?

Since the waffle is made to order it takes about 10 minutes, but browsing the café made the wait fly by.
The freshly baked waffle came piled high with blueberries and topped with sweet ice cream and whipped cream — the smell alone was insane, ㅠㅠ.

Warm, crispy waffle with sweet ice cream — ㅠㅠ my rain-soaked, droopy self came right back to life the moment I took a bite haha, so good ㅠㅠ!

Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch has great desserts, but the coffee is really good too — the latte was nutty and smooth, so tasty haha!! If you're looking for a brunch spot in Dong-gu, I highly recommend this big café by Dongchon Resort, Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch.
