No-break-time Hanam Misa Chinese restaurant: palbochae late lunch

In short

O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Misa-daero in Hanam, Gyeonggi that specializes in nurungjitang (scorched rice soup). Arriving with her mother long after the usual lunch hour, the writer ordered palbochae (stir-fried seafood and vegetables in sauce) for 35,000 won and seafood nurungjitang for 18,000 won, and both beat expectations: the seafood was tender rather than chewy and the scorched rice landed at just the right texture. With no break time and parking right in front, O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang works especially well for a late lunch.

Today's a place my mom and I went to for a late lunch — O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang! Work ran long that day and I'd blown way past lunchtime. Then I remembered this spot I'd always wanted to stop by whenever I passed it. My mom's schedule happened to line up too, so we finally made it there haha. I'd been curious about this nurungjitang (scorched rice soup) place in Hanam for a while — let's see how it was!

Where O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa is, and its hours

O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is at 616-1 Misa-daero, 1st floor, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's open daily 11:00–21:20, with last order at 20:45, and there's parking right in front.

First impressions inside the restaurant

The restaurant is right on the main road, so it was really easy to find. There's a spacious dedicated parking lot out front too, so parking was super convenient. But what I liked most — no break time!

When you're trying to grab a late lunch, you often run smack into break time and can't eat. O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang lets you visit whenever, no restrictions — loved that.

Spacious dining hall of O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang with plenty of tables

The inside was bigger than I expected! Tons of tables, plenty of room for group parties too. It felt clean and comfortable overall, so it was easy to eat with my mom in there. Would work fine for a family outing or a group gathering too.

Honestly I wanted tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)! Haha. But my mom said she wanted palbochae, so palbochae it was! Haha.

After ordering, a cute serving robot brought out the basic side dishes. One diligent little robot working hard, ha. Any sides we ran low on we could just grab ourselves from the self-serve corner.

Palbochae: seafood and vegetables full of flavor

The food came out faster than I expected. Palbochae arrived first! Decorated prettily with pineapple, it was so cute just visually. The colors were vibrant too, looking delicious even before the first bite.

I was so hungry I scooped a plate right away. Wow, this is actually really good? The ingredients were chewy yet tender in the mouth, and the sauce was packed with flavor.

What I liked most was that it wasn't tough. Seafood can get chewy if it's overcooked, but here the doneness and texture were just right. That was the moment my disappointment over missing tangsuyuk completely disappeared haha.

Seafood nurungjitang, the standout dish

Next up, seafood nurungjitang! I'm not usually that into nurungjitang, honestly. But why was this one so good? Starting with the hot broth, it wasn't too salty or too bland — just the right seasoning.

The texture of the scorched rice really stood out. The nurungjitang, soaked in broth, melted in the mouth while still keeping some bite. Not too hard, not too soft — that in-between texture was the real treat.

Combined with the deep savoriness of the seafood and the nutty scorched rice, I kept going back for more. There's definitely a reason this nurungjitang restaurant in Hanam draws people in! At first I thought, how special can scorched rice really be — but I'm fully sold now, it's a genuine treat! Haha.

After finishing the meal, we cleansed our palates with oranges from the self-serve corner. Leftovers can be packed to go too — the takeout container is just an extra ₩500.

I finally got to visit a place I'd always been curious about, with my mom, and it exceeded my expectations. The palbochae was really tasty, and the nurungjitang had a distinctive flavor I keep thinking about. Next time I want to try the tangsuyuk I missed out on, plus the abalone nurungjitang.
