Seongsu restaurant for a steak dinner with friends: Omil Seongsu

We were meeting up with friends in Seongsu on a weekday evening when one friend suddenly said Omil was on her dinner wishlist. (Oh, I already love this place and my friends do too, so I was thrilled it's on Superchart's list of vetted places!! I'd only been to the Hongdae branch, so I was curious what the Seongsu location would feel like.) Here's how it went taking my friends to Omil Seongsu.

With a menu poster stuck right on the brick exterior, the whole vibe was very Seongsu.

What is Omil Seongsu like inside, and how does it differ from the Hongdae branch?

Omil Seongsu sits on the ground floor of a brick building on Achasan-ro 5-gil near Seongsu Station. It felt much more spacious and comfortable than the Hongdae branch, plenty of room for the three of us.

Looking through the window, the inside already looked packed with people — proof that a hot spot really is a hot spot. And those outdoor cushions? So cute lol. Once we opened the door, the space felt bigger and cozier than I expected.

The table settings were clean and the lighting had a nice mood, great for photos too. It really felt different from Hongdae — much roomier and more comfortable. Once we sat down and opened the menu, even the cover was so cute.

What three friends ordered at Omil Seongsu

Omil Seongsu has a really wide range of main dishes, with gochujang butter pasta and rubber duck omurice marked separately as signatures. There's also a 2-person set menu, but since there were three of us, we added extra dishes on top of the set.

So many menu items!!! There were so many main dishes we spent ages deciding. The gochujang butter pasta and rubber duck omurice, marked as signatures, immediately caught our eye. There's also a 2-person set, so we compared prices and

decided since there were three of us, splitting the set evenly felt a bit awkward, so we just each ordered what we wanted. Flipping back through the mains page for the final call!! Rubber duck omurice and soba maki roll

First out was Omil Seongsu's signature rubber duck omurice. With a parasol decoration, a duck figurine, and quail eggs shaped like chicks, the plating was adorable.

Whoa!!!! What is this, so cute. The first dish to arrive was that famous rubber duck omurice. So darn cute. The parasol decoration and the little duck figurine were plated so adorably.

Quail eggs shaped like little chicks. How am I supposed to eat this, so cute ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ I think I took at least ten photos before we even touched it.

Next up, the soba maki roll (buckwheat noodle sushi roll) came out too — the egg and burdock root combo was surprisingly harmonious, and my friends clapped like seals saying it was so good. With wasabi and pickled ginger on the side, it ate clean without any heaviness.

Bacon mushroom cream pasta vs Omil steak: which was best?

My pick for best dish at Omil Seongsu that day was the Omil steak. There's a cheese-pouring performance, and with all that cream sauce piled on top, the visual alone was overwhelming.

Next, pasta time. We also ordered the cream pasta loaded with mushrooms and bacon, and you could smell the savory aroma before even taking a bite. The cream sauce wasn't heavy at all, surprisingly clean.

Now for the next contender: the steak!!!!! The cheese-pouring performance was such a treat, and the dish itself was more delicious than expected.

The Omil steak we ordered last was so good, I want to name it my best dish of the day! With all that cream sauce piled on top, the visual alone was overwhelming.

Even with the three of us ordering all this, we ate until we were absolutely stuffed. As we were finishing up and about to leave, a staff member handed us a rubber duck plush.

Turns out there's an event where you get to take home a duck if you finish your meal. The moment we got it we were so excited we immediately took photos out front. (Now I have two ducks at home lol.) But seriously, isn't that little tube so cute lol.

Final verdict on Omil Seongsu

I think I'll be thinking about this place again next time I'm in Seongsu. Next time I need to work through the rest of the menu!!!
