Whenever we crave good pork belly, we end up at Ssosam 208, our go-to Suwon Station restaurant. It's our couple's real "go-again" spot in Suwon — a stone-grill pork belly place open late, great for a company dinner or a clean-cut date. Here's our satisfied review after visiting yet again :)

Ssosam 208 is close to exits 12 and 13 of Suwon Station. Just look for the orange signboard tucked inside the alley. Parking is never easy near Suwon Station, but this branch has parking behind the building, which is a huge plus (2 hours free).

What coupons do you get for booking Ssosam 208 on Naver Reservation?

The restaurant is spacious and clean. The ceilings are pretty high too, so grilling meat never feels stuffy — it's comfortable the whole time. We booked through Naver Reservation, and by 6pm on a weekend evening, the place was filling up fast. If you reserve through Naver, you can use a beef brisket doenjang stew coupon and a grilled pork cheek (100g) coupon, so I'd definitely recommend booking ahead haha.

The signature stone grill and lava cheese fondue at Ssosam 208

Ssosam 208's signature stone plate. Staff grill everything on it for you. Maybe it's just me, but meat grilled on stone somehow tastes better than on a regular grill haha. There's a little crater on the plate where you can add lava fondue cheese too 🔥

The side dishes come out neat and tidy too. The shredded scallions are great, and all the sauces are tasty.

What's in the 500g medium mixed stone-grill platter for two?

We ordered easily through the kiosk pad at our table. For two people, we got the medium mixed stone-grill platter (500g), doenjang stew, bibimmyeon, and steamed egg. The medium platter comes with pork belly 250g + pork neck 150g + cheonyeopsal (thin-layered pork belly) 100g, and pork belly, pork neck, cheonyeopsal, and grilled pork cheek can also be ordered individually. We wanted to try a variety, and ordering the mixed platter made things easier.

They even had zero-sugar cola (gotta keep the conscience clean). You can add lettuce wraps through the kiosk too.

Staff grill the pork for you — how did the cuts turn out?

Once you order, staff check the temperature and start grilling right away — they're really good at it here. At other BBQ places I've sometimes worried the staff forgot about our table haha, but that has never happened here, not once. You just get to chat and eat comfortably, and the grilling has been spot-on every single time we've come.

Meat sizzling away deliciously 😵‍💫😵‍💫 Compared to other pork belly spots that cut thick, even pieces, Ssosam's pork belly is a bit thinner and more rustic-cut — perfect if that's your style.

Once the meat is fully grilled, they move it aside so you can keep eating it warm the whole time. And yes, you have to grill the kimchi alongside it too.

Sides at Ssosam 208: flying fish roe steamed egg, Paldo bibimmyeon, brisket doenjang stew

The flying fish roe steamed egg and Paldo bibimmyeon (spicy mixed noodles) we ordered as sides were both delicious too. You really have to order them alongside the meat as a pairing. Besides bibimmyeon, Ssosam 208 also has spicy stir-fried noodles, cold buckwheat noodles, water naengmyeon, and snow cheese kimchi fried rice on the side menu.

We also tried the beef brisket doenjang stew (soybean paste stew), and it was rich and packed with meat — a must-order for anyone who loves a good stew at a BBQ restaurant ⭐️⭐️⭐️

We got our appetites going and ended with an extra serving of pork belly — a perfect meal. They grill the extra single-order meat for you too.
