I thought it was only the eel that was all-you-can-eat?!! haha

Why we picked a Suwon eel all-you-can-eat spot for our date-night dinner

It had been a while since my husband and I had a proper dinner together, and we spent a long time deciding what to eat. We wanted something a bit more filling than our usual go-tos, so eel came up in conversation.

We both love eel, but the price can get a little worrying when you want to eat as much as you like as a couple. So while looking for an eel restaurant near Suwon City Hall we wouldn't have to worry about the bill for, we ended up at Songnim Bok Jangeo Freshwater Eel All-You-Can-Eat Suwon Main Branch.

What does the all-you-can-eat price and menu look like?

We picked it because you can eat as much eel as you want

What drew me to Songnim Bok Jangeo was, of course, the freshwater eel all-you-can-eat. It's ₩29,900 per adult, plus a ₩3,000 per-person table charge. Since we wanted to eat comfortably without stressing about how much eel we were getting through, this setup suited us well while searching for an eel restaurant near Suwon City Hall. They also had a good range of side dishes, from soups to noodles, worth ordering alongside.

What I liked even more was that it's not just eel that's unlimited!! You also get pork belly, seasoned meat and chicken neck meat, so instead of eating the same thing over and over, there was the fun of picking and choosing.

Freshwater eel grilled golden over charcoal

Once we sat down and put the eel on the grill, it finally felt like a proper night out after a long time.

Rather than cutting it up small from the start, they grilled it more or less whole first, then cut it into bite-sized pieces. Watching it sizzle over the charcoal and gradually turn glossy on the surface made the wait genuinely enjoyable.

We ate the golden-grilled eel with perilla leaves and pickles, and also wrapped in lettuce. Switching up how we ate it kept it from getting boring even after a while, and I was glad we'd found this eel restaurant near Suwon City Hall.

If eel alone isn't enough, there's pork belly and chicken neck meat too

After we'd had our fill of eel, we moved on to grilling chicken neck meat and pork belly.

Grilling the pork belly over charcoal sent up sizzling fat and a proper savory smell. The chicken neck meat wasn't dry at all — it had a chewy bite that was a different kind of appeal from the eel.

Whether you're with someone who loves eel or someone who loves meat, there's little reason to argue over the menu here. That made me think this would work well for a family meal, or for anyone looking for a Suwon meeting spot.

What's on the self-bar?

The self-bar had lettuce and perilla leaves, plus mushrooms, sauces, green onion kimchi, baek-kimchi (white kimchi), and other things that go well with eel or meat.

Being able to take as much as we needed made the meal easy and relaxed for both of us. (Just don't leave leftovers — better to take small portions and go back often!^^)

Full or not, you can't skip the spicy ramyeon

By the time we'd worked through the eel, pork belly and chicken neck meat, we were already pretty full. But after eating so many savory dishes in a row, I found myself craving a spicy broth by the end.

So we ended up ordering the spicy ramyeon — and it was absolutely the right call! One spoonful of the hot, spicy broth was the perfect finish after all that eel and meat. (Definitely eat it with the green onion kimchi, it's genuinely delicious.)

Even after all that noodles, we were completely stuffed as we walked out together.

For when you want to eat eel with a group

A lot of people looking for an eel restaurant near Suwon City Hall are probably planning a family meal with parents or a get-together with friends.

Table setup good for group gatherings

Songnim Bok Jangeo lets you eat plenty of meat alongside the freshwater eel, so it's a good setup to visit with people who have different tastes. My husband and I got to enjoy a hearty spread of eel, meat and spicy ramyeon at this eel restaurant near Suwon City Hall after a while, and I think we'll be back without hesitation the next time we're craving eel.

If you love eel but always hesitate to order as much as you'd like because of the price, going all-you-can-eat is a solid option. I hope this is helpful for anyone weighing a family meal or trying to figure out a Suwon meeting spot where you can eat eel and meat together^^
