Family eel BBQ with a playground next door: Songnim Bok Jangeo Suwon
In short
Songnim Bok Jangeo Freshwater Eel All-You-Can-Eat Suwon Main Branch is an eel all-you-can-eat restaurant in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon. Visiting with family, we grilled thick freshwater eel, pork belly, chicken neck meat, and homemade seasoned pork ribs over charcoal for ₩29,900 per adult, with a playground right outside and parking behind the building. With plenty of non-eel options for kids who don't eat eel, it worked well as a family dinner spot.

I went with my family to eat eel at Songnim Bok Jangeo Freshwater Eel All-You-Can-Eat Suwon Main Branch. I love eel, but it gets pricey when the whole family eats it together. This time I wanted to eat well without worrying too much about the bill, so I went looking for a good eel restaurant in Suwon and ended up here.

Honestly, since it was all-you-can-eat, I'd lowered my expectations for the eel quality. But once it hit the grill, the meat was noticeably thicker than I'd expected — a good first impression.
Location, parking, and the playground right out front
The main entrance is right in front of a small playground.

I was a little confused at first because I didn't see parking out front, but there are both surface and underground lots behind the building. If you're visiting with kids, the playground right outside is handy before or after the meal.

Inside the restaurant and seating
Inside, the place was bigger than I expected. Every table has its own grill and hood for the charcoal, and there are plenty of seats. It has enough space for larger groups too, so it could work if you're looking for a Suwon dinner spot for a work gathering.

What does the all-you-can-eat price and menu include?
We ordered the adult all-you-can-eat for ₩29,900 per person. Elementary school age is ₩14,000, plus a separate ₩3,000 table setting fee. The time limit is 2 hours, and once you order the all-you-can-eat, you can help yourself to freshwater eel, pork belly, chicken neck meat, and homemade seasoned pork ribs as much as you like.

The self-serve bar has kimchi, pickled vegetables, and other sides that go well with eel.

It's a help-yourself system, and leftovers can't be packed to go, so it's best not to over-serve yourself at first. Eel soup, galbitang, and yukgaejang are each ₩10,000, buckwheat noodles are ₩9,000, spicy ramen is ₩5,000, and rice is ₩1,000 — all available to order separately.

Was the eel actually thick, even as all-you-can-eat?
What I was most curious about at Songnim Bok Jangeo was, of course, the eel. Honestly, I figured an eel all-you-can-eat would mean thin, somewhat skimpy eel. But once I brought it over myself, it was thicker than expected.
Grilled slowly over charcoal, the skin side turns golden while the plump meat starts releasing its fat. Cut into bite-sized pieces once cooked, the outside had a slight bounce and the inside was soft. With the charcoal aroma on top, it was flavorful even eaten plain — more satisfying than I'd anticipated for a Suwon eel spot.

Ways to eat the eel
I ate the eel plain at first, then kept switching up combinations. I wrapped it in perilla leaves with ginger, paired it with aged kimchi, and tried it with a little dipping sauce — each had a different feel. When the eel's fattiness came through, the aged kimchi's tanginess worked especially well for me. Piling eel and toppings all into one big perilla-leaf wrap was also great.
Pork belly, chicken neck meat, and homemade seasoned pork ribs too
Another thing that stood out about Songnim Bok Jangeo is that it isn't just an eel all-you-can-eat. After eating our fill of eel, we also grilled pork belly, chicken neck meat, and homemade seasoned pork ribs.

I also figured the pork belly would be thin since it's all-you-can-eat, but it was fairly thick too. Being able to switch from eel to meat meant there was something for everyone in the family, including different tastes among the kids.
Grilling king oyster mushrooms alongside was a nice way to break things up between rounds.

Putting too much eel and meat on the grill at once means they cook at different speeds and things get chaotic, so it's better to bring smaller portions at a time.
How was it as a family dinner spot?
Having a playground right outside and a variety of meats beyond just eel made this solid for a family meal. Even kids who don't eat much eel have other options like pork belly or seasoned pork ribs. The eel was thicker than expected, and being able to pick from several kinds of meat, not just eel, was a plus. If you're looking for a Suwon eel restaurant where the whole family can eat their fill, or a Suwon dinner spot to try a few different dishes together, this one's worth considering.
