A hearty galbi hot pot lunch near Jeonju Hanok Village
Not long ago, my husband had training nearby, so I went along to match his schedule—and we ended up having a neat, generous lunch at Hanok Maeul Mulgalbi.

When you arrive, the clean, tranquil hanok-style exterior immediately catches your eye. There is even a little pond-like space out front, so I was already excited before walking in.

Parking in front and easy access from the public lot
There is parking right in front of Hanok Maeul Mulgalbi, which is so convenient. There are not a huge number of spaces, but each one is always nicely roomy. Both tourists and locals come here, though it seems many people get around on foot! I have already returned several times, and I have never found the parking full.

What comes in the galbi hot pot set
- Galbi hot pot set: ₩22,000
- Per serving: 250g hot pot + 120g yukjeon (pan-fried beef pancake)
- Steamed rice is extra
We ordered the galbi hot pot set, which lets you enjoy both galbi hot pot and yukjeon! My husband’s training finished later than expected, so we could not eat until around 1 p.m. We had both skipped breakfast, and the delicious smell inside had us feeling dizzyyy—we wanted to eat so badly!

The basic side dishes were set out so neatly, and the main galbi hot pot was loaded with mushrooms, glass noodles, green onion, bean sprouts, and more.

Seriously, so ridiculously generous!!!

Seasoned glass noodles and tender meat
As it started bubbling away, the broth seasoning soaked in beautifully—and it naturally made me think of a glass of soju! But we both had to drive, so we held back~

Scooping up the glass noodles and bean sprouts, thoroughly infused with seasoning, is simply wonderful. Of course the meat is delicious too, but I do not know why the glass noodles in this mulgalbi are so good. Honestly, absolute heaven!!!

Even the plain white rice was such good quality. You could tell at a glance that it was freshly cooked white rice. The meat was not tough at all, just tender, and it paired perfectly with the seasoning!

Pile white rice, meat, seasoned chives, and garlic onto fresh lettuce, then wrap up a big bite—seriously, so delicious. The seasoning itself is just incredibly good.

Freshly fried yukjeon with seasoned chives
The golden, savory yukjeon included in the set! The yukjeon that comes with the set is such a treat too. It arrives freshly fried, warm and crisp, and full of nutty flavor~ We have also come with a child before, and it is yukjeon that children absolutely love!!! Perhaps that is why guests with children seem to order the yukjeon set without fail.

Place a little of the sweet-and-tangy seasoned chives on the yukjeon and wrap them together, and it cuts through any richness completely, leaving only the savory flavor. I kept reaching for it. The chives were so good that I got one more refill, and they seasoned a fresh batch and brought it right out. Does it only feel tastier after a refill because I am in a good mood?

Thanks to my husband’s training, we enjoyed a relaxed, hearty, and satisfying lunch together at Hanok Maeul Mulgalbi for the first time in a while. If you want to enjoy a generous hot pot and savory yukjeon together in Jeonju, I recommend Hanok Maeul Mulgalbi!!!
