Songdo, Pohang restaurant for mushroom black sesame salad: Plan A

One of the restaurants I was most looking forward to on this Pohang trip was Plan A Restaurant, an ocean-view spot right in front of Songdo Beach!! It's right next to Hound Hotel, where we stayed, and I heard it had a gorgeous ocean view, so I was so excited even before visiting, haha.

Living on land surrounded by mountains in Daegu, just seeing the sea makes my heart race... The vibe and the taste were both top-notch at this Songdo, Pohang restaurant — here's my review of Plan A Restaurant.

Where is Plan A Restaurant in Songdo, Pohang, and where do you park?

Plan A Restaurant, a Songdo, Pohang favorite located right in front of Songdo Beach, is on the 4th floor — just take the elevator up. For parking, you can use the free public parking lots in front of and behind the building, and there's also parking at the community center behind the building, for reference.

If you happen to be staying at Hound Hotel Songdo, it's right next door — a 30-second walk, haha. We walked over.

Inside Plan A Restaurant: the sea-view seats

There were quite a few customers inside, so I couldn't take detailed photos. The bright white-toned interior gave off a fresh feeling, like being on an overseas trip.

We wanted a table right against the sea, but it was already reserved, so we sat at the table right behind it — the gap between tables was wide enough that we could still enjoy the view of the sea just fine. A neat table setting.

Tablet ordering and what the couple ordered

At Plan A Restaurant, a Songdo, Pohang favorite, you order via a tablet PC. Naver reservation customers can join a photo review event, which gets you complimentary side dishes like fried items — worth joining, haha.

We wanted something fresh, so we ordered the mushroom black sesame salad, along with the Plan B beef chop steak and shrimp rosé spaghetti. The chop steak came in a choice of 120g or 240g, and since we'd already eaten so well on this Pohang trip, we weren't too hungry, so we went with the smaller size.

(Ironic that someone who wasn't that hungry ordered three whole dishes, lol.)

Shrimp rosé spaghetti and mushroom black sesame salad

First to arrive was the shrimp rosé spaghetti. It's made with three whole shrimp and minced shrimp tossed in rosé sauce. The noodles weren't overcooked and still had some bite to them. The combination of the snow cheese sprinkled on top and the sauce was great.

Next came the mushroom black sesame salad. Assorted vegetables, sautéed mushrooms, cheese, and tomatoes topped with black sesame dressing. A flavor no Korean could possibly dislike, lol.

What comes with the Plan B beef chop steak (120g)

The last dish to arrive was the Plan B beef chop steak!! The sauce comes on the side so you can dip according to your taste. It's served with cajun fries and a vegetable salad.

Took photos of all the dishes with the ocean view, lol. It really felt like being on a trip abroad, haha.

How the three dishes at Plan A Restaurant tasted

We tried the mushroom black sesame salad first, and it tasted like it washed away all the greasiness from the delicacies we'd eaten during the trip. We said 'people really do need to eat vegetables' and the two of us dug right in, haha. I usually don't order salad at Western restaurants, but after this one I understood why people do, haha.

The shrimp rosé spaghetti had the springy texture of the shrimp coming through fully, and the combination of tomato and cream was really harmonious...! It's the kind of crowd-pleasing flavor even kids would like, haha.

And then the Plan B beef chop steak!! It said 'mildly spicy' on the menu, but I barely felt any spiciness. The steak already had a good base seasoning even eaten plain, and the doneness was just right — not too charred, not too tough — so I really enjoyed it.

It was even tastier eaten together with the sautéed onions and peppers that came with it. Dipping it in the accompanying sauce was good too.

The salad came with both ranch and balsamic dressing, and it was tasty enough that it didn't feel like a basic side salad — if it had been orderable on its own, I would have wanted to order more, haha. Steak really does need a salad!! The fries were the cajun-style ones I love, already seasoned salty enough to eat plain, and they were good dipped in ketchup too.

Plan A Restaurant, a Songdo, Pohang restaurant with a view that nails taste, kindness, and scenery all at once!! Highly recommend it if you're coming to Pohang on vacation, or as a Pohang date spot.
