Bapkkot Hansang: a hanjeongsik restaurant near Sejong Lake Park
These days I've mostly been living off delivery food, but the weather finally warmed up and I got a craving for home-style cooking, so I went to a Korean restaurant near Sejong Lake Park in Sejong. It's called Bapkkot Hansang (밥꽃한상)! I heard the banchan (side dishes) spread was varied, so I went with high expectations~~
It's close to Sejong Government Complex and Sejong Lake Park. Also near the National Sejong Library!

Get off on the 3rd floor of the Sejong Machi building and it's right there. See the Bapkkot Hansang sign?

Partitioned booths and the bright window seat
What you see right as you walk in. Pretty spacious, and I love that every seat has a partition.

I sat at a window seat toward the back and the natural light was amazing.

The wall-side seats looked nice too.

The menu, from set specials to rice bowl spreads

There are set meals and special menus, plus simple rice bowl sets. If you're out on lunch break from work, something like a spicy pork rice bowl looks super satisfying. (For jeon, ssamjang, and other side dishes, check the menu board on their site.)
Order: Bapkkot Special for two, ₩50,000 (₩25,000 per person)
The first banchan to arrive. Suyuk (boiled pork slices), dubu-kimchi (tofu with stir-fried kimchi), salad, konjac japchae — all dishes I happen to love...!

Suyuk and the appetizer banchan that come first
Started with the suyuk. Just two bites as a taste, but the meat was really soft, had no gamey smell, and had nice marbling — made me want to try their herbal suyuk rice bowl (hanbang suyuk deopbap) next time.

Konjac japchae and mushroom-zucchini strips? The konjac japchae has a nutty sesame-oil-scented soy sauce base, but the noodles are konjac with a hint of seaweed, so it feels fresher and healthier! The dish on the right came with rice cake, with a strong nutty perilla oil aroma. Never had anything like it before — and it's delicious.

Dubu-kimchi is always good~~ Fresh tofu, kimchi fermented just right — that familiar, delicious taste we all know haha.

The salad's dressing wasn't too strong, so it was refreshing and good for whetting the appetite.

What even is this! Strong perilla seed aroma, a creamy mayo-sauce feel, and I really enjoyed it. There was also a tangy note, perfect for getting the appetite going. I want more of this flavor!
The main course: the Bapkkot Special tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patty) spread

After the appetizers, the meal itself comes out. Looks generous just from the sight of it! The Bapkkot Special is a tteokgalbi spread.

The main dish, tteokgalbi. Wow, it's huge! Coated in sauce, with a sweet soy flavor that was so good, with enoki mushrooms underneath and sprouts on top — a well-balanced dish.

I'm usually not a fan of tteokgalbi that's mostly starch, like a mushy patty, but this one had a coarser texture that felt like it had a high meat content. Meaning: delicious!

Doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) comes right after. The portion is huge, seriously. The side dishes are all things that are hard to make at home, so I enjoyed every bite. My favorites were the bangpung namul (glehnia greens), cucumber kimchi, and the nuts were tasty too.

It had that house-made doenjang flavor, which I loved. Not the overly punchy doenjang taste you get at BBQ places, but a deep, strongly flavored house doenjang.

This one's the mushroom ssamjang (thick soybean-chili paste dip) — loaded with mushrooms, so chunky and satisfying to bite into. It's on the salty side, so a small spoonful mixed into rice is great!

The tastiest thing here, hands down, was the tteokgalbi... a flavor that people of all ages would love. You could bite into the chives, and the meat wasn't overly soft — really delicious.

Mixed the rice thoroughly with the mushroom ssamjang. The rice itself had just the right chewiness I like, so the meal stayed satisfying right to the end. I think older family members would love being taken here.
Is Bapkkot Hansang good for a meal with parents and kids?
Today I visited Bapkkot Hansang near Sejong Lake Park, and every dish was so tidy and included a variety of banchan that's hard to make at home every day — it felt like a real nourishing meal. It's a course that kids and adults alike can enjoy. At ₩25,000 per person, I'd happily eat here again! If you're looking for a healthy, delicious Korean set-course meal, I recommend Bapkkot Hansang~haha
