Gijang outlet restaurant cooking pasta spice-free for kids: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Restaurant is a Western restaurant inside Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets, on the first floor of the outlet's north side in Gijang, Busan. On this second visit the order was shrimp anchovy oil pasta, seafood tomato pasta and abalone cream risotto, and the kitchen cooked the seafood tomato pasta with all the spice left out so a child could share it. The one catch is timing: by the afternoon the sets, salads, pizzas and some steaks were sold out, so arrive earlier if there is a specific dish in mind.

I went back to Bueokgan at Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets, where I'd previously visited with my kids. Returning to a place you've already been to is a sign it left an impression, isn't it? This time I stopped by for lunch while shopping too.

Being inside Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets still felt convenient — you can shop and eat in one trip.

On the previous visit too, the spacious interior and the kids' tableware and baby chairs made it a good spot for family dining.

Bueokgan sits on the north side of the outlet's first floor.

The brick-toned exterior blends with the wood-tone interior, so it naturally catches your eye as you walk past.

Walking in again this time, I found myself thinking, "Ah, right, the vibe here was nice."

Bueokgan's indoor seating and amenities for families with kids
The interior of Bueokgan was warm and cozy, as before.

Table spacing was fairly generous, with various seating types from 4-tops on up — good for a family meal, and equally suited to a relaxed date for two.

On our last visit too, they had baby chairs and children's tableware ready, making it easy to dine with a kid.

This time again, I got the sense that this is a restaurant you can visit with a child without much worry.
What was sold out at Bueokgan on an afternoon visit?
One thing that was different this visit was going in the afternoon. Looking at the menu, more items were sold out than I expected.

Set menus, salads, pizzas, and some steak dishes in particular were nearly all sold out, leaving not many options to choose from.

So if you're planning a visit to Bueokgan and have a specific dish in mind, it's probably a good idea to go a bit earlier.

We looked over what was left and picked different dishes from last time.
The three dishes ordered at Bueokgan this time
This time we ordered three dishes: shrimp anchovy oil pasta, seafood tomato pasta, and abalone cream risotto. Since we'd already tried the carbonara and pizza last visit, this time we focused mostly on pasta and risotto.
Shrimp anchovy oil pasta at Bueokgan
The first dish to arrive was the shrimp anchovy oil pasta. Even in the photo, with the shrimp and vegetables mixed in, it looked clean yet appetizing.

Being an oil-based pasta, it had a different feel from the tomato or cream ones.

The shrimp brought a nice seafood flavor, and eaten with the noodles it was light and easy to enjoy.

Especially since so many items were sold out this time and options were limited, I was glad we could still pick a pasta and enjoy it.
Seafood tomato pasta, cooked spice-free on request
The second dish was the seafood tomato pasta. With shrimp and mussels among other seafood, it looked hearty just to look at. Since it's normally a slightly spicy dish, I asked if they could make it non-spicy so my kid could eat it too.

They left out all the spice, so we could eat it comfortably together with my child. The tomato sauce and seafood came together nicely with good savory depth, and it worked well for eating with a kid.

It was a dish I enjoyed last time too, so I ordered it again on this repeat visit — and this time it was even better since we could all share it with my child.
Abalone cream risotto at Bueokgan
One dish I was most curious about on this visit was the abalone cream risotto. It comes out on a wide plate, with the savory cream sauce and rice grains blending nicely.

With abalone mixed in too, it felt a bit richer than a typical cream risotto.

If we'd only ordered pasta it might have felt a little lacking, but adding a risotto meant we got to enjoy switching between all three dishes.
Is Bueokgan in Gijang, Busan worth a return visit?
- Located inside Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets
- Great for combining shopping and dining
- Charming interior, comfortable indoor space
- Baby chairs and kids' tableware provided
- Easy to dine here with a child
- Varied menu including pasta and risotto
- Works for both date nights and family meals
This was my second visit, and just like the first time, I had a good meal in a comfortable setting. It was especially easy to visit with my child, and being able to shop at the outlet and then head straight to a meal made it even more convenient.
That said, going in the afternoon this time meant more menu items than expected were sold out. If you want a wide range of dishes to choose from, it's probably worth arriving a bit earlier. Bueokgan suits family meals with kids just as well as it suits a date in a nice-atmosphere spot. If you're looking for Western food in Gijang, or want to combine shopping and dining at Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets, Bueokgan is worth a visit.
