Ttukseom dessert café anniversary cake: the 2-hour chill rule at

In short

Notldun is a dessert café in Seongsu, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Ttukseom Station and close to Seoul Forest. The order was a salty caramel mille-feuille and a decaf iced americano in-store, plus the signature Forêt Noire cake packed in a cooler bag for an anniversary. Because the mousse-based cake has to go in the fridge after 2 hours, the shape at Notldun slumped a little, but the flavor was still perfect.

Looking for a mini cake for an anniversary that's actually classy and delicious, instead of the usual lettering cake? I visited Notldun in Ttukseom, a Seongsu dessert café famous among dessert lovers 🍰

From gorgeous petit gâteaux to pastries, the quality here is on another level, so I fully recommend it for a special-day date course. Here's my honest review of the mille-feuille I ate in-store and the signature cake I packed to go for the occasion 💛

What Notldun looks like inside: window walls and the petit gâteau showcase

Notldun is a space filled with warm light pouring through floor-to-ceiling windows, so I felt my mood soften the moment I walked in ☀️ I grabbed a window seat and looked around the showcase — it was such a feast for the eyes.

The display was packed with intricate petit gâteaux that clearly took a lot of skill to make. From baked goods like lime madeleine and pistachio madeleine to Guanaja and mascaberry, the lineup was so impressive I had a happy time agonizing over what to pick 🧁

Next time I want to try the madeleines and financiers…

Salty caramel mille-feuille with a decaf iced americano at Notldun

In-store, I first ordered a decaf iced americano and salty caramel mille-feuille to try ☕ Between the crisp, well-defined pastry layers was a sandwich of soft vanilla cream and salty caramel.

Even the crackling sound when I cut it with a knife was a work of art. One bite and a delightful sweet-and-salty flavor spread through my mouth — not overly sweet, clean, and it paired perfectly with the cold decaf americano 🍯

The price makes it impossible for the desserts not to taste good, but honestly every dessert was a delight for both the eyes and the mouth in a truly upscale way…!!

Taking home the Forêt Noire anniversary cake: cooler bag and the 2-hour rule

For a dessert to decorate the anniversary party, I packed Notldun's signature Forêt Noire cake to go 🎂

I debated between the white and chocolate versions, but of course the classic wins haha.

The intricate design, reminiscent of flowers, along with the rich texture of the chocolate layers, was perfect for setting an anniversary mood.

The owner packed it in a cooler bag and gave me a helpful tip — that it absolutely must be refrigerated after 2 hours. But I got caught up exploring the Seongsu alleys and Seoul Forest and couldn't find a fridge in time, so it melted slightly… When I took the cake out at dinner, its pretty shape had collapsed and I was so sad about it. Still, it was amazing how the flavor stayed the same!! The deep richness and soft sweetness were still perfect 🍫

Since it's mousse-based and sensitive to temperature, anyone taking it to go should be sure to refrigerate it quickly.
