Mangwon café for group visits, no one-drink-per-person rule: PICT
In short
PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is a specialty roastery café in the basement of a brick building near Mangwon Market in Mapo, Seoul. A group visit on the weekend tried the americano, café latte, mint lemon ade, and pistachio tiramisu, and since there's no one-drink-per-person rule, everyone could order dessert freely. The wide basement space lets in light through a big window wall, making it good for studying, dates, or group hangouts alike.

Since I'm a Mangwon local, I post a lot about restaurants around here, but I realized I've never once posted a Mangwon café! I went to a brand new café that just opened in Mangwon-dong and I loved it so much — and I fell in love with the pistachio tiramisu.. ✨ Writing this up the moment I got home. This is a great-vibe café near Mangwon Market, PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch (픽트로스터리 망원점) ❣️

It's a roastery café that roasts its own green beans and brews specialty coffee every week.

PICT Roastery is entered through a side door of the brick house, and you head down from there.

A basement that still lets in light through a big window wall
The moment I walked in, I was surprised the inside was bigger than I expected. I thought it'd be dark since it's a basement, but they put in a huge window so light comes in really well, and overall it feels upscale and pleasant!

Overall it was really clean and had a great atmosphere. I can't believe a café with this good a vibe opened near Mangwon Market 🫶⭐️ Some customers were there alone to study or work, others came as couples on dates, and there were groups like us too — everyone seemed to be enjoying it comfortably depending on what they came for.

Picking your beans, and no one-drink-per-person rule
For the coffee, you could choose your beans, and instead of having tons of menu items, it felt like they focused on the ones they're confident about! I don't like coffee with acidity, so I went with the Midnight Blending.
- Iced americano ☕️
- Iced café latte
- Mint lemon ade 🍋🍵
- Pistachio tiramisu 🍰
That's what we ordered. It was nice that takeout gets ₩1,000 off every item, but more than that — these days a lot of places make you order one drink per person even if you're buying bakery items or cake 😩 PICT Roastery doesn't do that, so we could pick desserts more freely.

When we visited there was actually a waiting list, and the matcha basque cheesecake and aged French toast had already sold out.. so I figured I'd have to try the other desserts next time.

Waiting at our seats, we could watch them making the coffee directly, which was fun.

Café latte, mint lemon ade, and americano taste
Café latte (₩5,500)
The espresso was already delicious so I enjoyed the nutty flavor as is, but my friend likes sweet lattes so she added syrup. If you like your latte sweet, I'd recommend the vanilla bean latte!

Mint lemon ade (₩7,500)
This menu item was pretty surprising — it wasn't just lemon ade, it was mint lemon ade ‼️ I expected it to just taste like regular lemonade, but the mint flavor was stronger than expected, so I'd really recommend it to anyone who likes mint.

Americano (₩4,900)
Maybe because I picked the beans myself, but the coffee had a nice nutty, bitter base flavor. Since it's a roastery that roasts its own beans, they're closed Mon and Tue to select and roast beans directly — and because they put so much confidence and time into the beans, the coffee tasted really good and nutty!!

Pistachio tiramisu (₩8,000)
Genuinely my favorite — the cake I seriously considered ordering a second of.

Looking at this photo again makes me want to eat it again,,,

A gorgeous shot of the whole spread..✨ Even my picky friends who came along were fully satisfied — PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch isn't just a great spot for americano and latte, it's a dessert spot above all. If you're near Mangwon Market or Mangwon Station, definitely go check it out. And for Mangwon locals, it'd be perfect for a light bag and a solo study session ❣️
