Yongsan hair salon signature perm to soften a square jaw: JUNO HAIR

While prepping for my wedding I avoided perms entirely and just let my hair grow, no damage allowed — and honestly I hit a total face fatigue phase lol. I kept doing clinic treatments patiently so a perm would turn out well later, and finally went to JUNO HAIR in Yongsan to get a custom long-hair design perm from Lee Yu-ssaem, who's known for great perms. Here's my salon review!

JUNO HAIR Yongsan I'Park Mall Branch is on the 3rd floor of Fashion Park in Yongsan I'Park Mall, 55 Hangang-daero 23-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. It's open 10:30 - 22:00 and connects directly to Yongsan Station.

I booked with deputy director Lee Yu-ssaem at JUNO Yongsan. Checking Naver reservations, she had over 4,000 reviews, so she seemed like someone with a long, consistent track record at one location. Most of all — a perm specialist haha.

Inside the salon: spacious and spotless

Maybe because it's inside Yongsan I'Park Mall, the exterior felt classic and full of atmosphere, and the inside was spacious and comfortable too. I arrived right at opening and there were so many staff already.

I was seated right away with no wait at all.

Consultation: why a signature design perm beat the cloud perm

The style I'd shown Lee Yu-ssaem beforehand was a cloud perm with thick waves. I explained my hair concerns — zero volume at the crown so it lies flat, and a square face shape I wanted to soften around the jaw — and instead of the cloud perm, she recommended a custom signature design perm suited to me. The consultation was thorough and unhurried as she worked out the style that would suit me best, which already had me looking forward to the result.

My hair before — just plain long hair, nothing else. Lee Yu-ssaem at JUNO Yongsan looked it over from every angle and confidently said, "I think I can make this really pretty," which was funny but also made me feel really good.

How the long-hair design perm was done, step by step

It started with a shampoo. She used a protein shampoo, so this Yongsan Station salon clearly paid close attention to preventing damage.

She cut my hair first so the perm would sit well. I have thick hair so a lot got thinned out — already felt lighter!

Right before the perm itself started, she gave me an iced tea. Now it felt like a healing moment, like being at a café haha.

Crown volume has always been my concern, and this was the first salon I've been to where they rolled the top section first during the perm — JUNO Yongsan. Definitely felt like the volume would really pop!

After the top was done, the rest of my hair was rolled with thick rods. Then heat was applied. Now it was waiting time. The staff kept checking in on whether it was too hot and how it was progressing, so I relaxed and played on my phone.

Finished with a shampoo and a cooling scalp massage. Even wet, the shape already showed the thick wave perm coming through nicely. As they blow-dried my hair, the staff carefully explained how to care for it — I'm honestly bad at hair care and usually just dry it until it goes frizzy, but at JUNO Yongsan they explained rolling the front with a round brush while drying and curling techniques so simply that even I could manage it, and I've actually been styling my hair well at home lately haha.

The perm result after drying! The moment I saw it I felt so good — it came out naturally in such a current style. She nailed both my concerns, the volume and the side pieces that naturally wrap around my face line, completely custom to me. I'd asked Lee Yu-ssaem at JUNO to just decide on her own since I was curious how different it could look from my past perms, and I'm glad I did haha. Even tying my hair up for work, the wisps that fall out front look pretty, and it dries naturally too. Guess this is why you go to an experienced perm specialist haha.

Even though it's a male designer, there wasn't a single uncomfortable moment — Lee Yu-ssaem at JUNO Yongsan made my hair look beautiful with a long-hair design perm that really suited me. I want to take good care of it and keep this long-hair perm style going lol.
