Beef Wellington by reservation at Huirit, a Seongsu-dong Italian restaurant
In short
Huirit is an Italian restaurant in a renovated house in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, walkable from Seoulsup Station. We split the reservation-only Beef Wellington and a rocket tomato spaghetti, and the pastry's crunch, the tender beef, and the tomato's acidity with the rocket's aroma took turns resetting the palate. It was a well-balanced meal that made for a memorable Seongsu date dinner.

Lately when I make dinner plans around Seongsu, the atmosphere matters just as much as the taste. Seongsu has so many pretty restaurants that instead of just looking for good pasta, I end up looking for a place where you can sit and talk slowly over a meal. This time I went to Huirit, tucked into an alley in Seongsu-dong.

Huirit is located at 34 Wangsimni-ro 2-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, South Korea, within walking distance of Seoulsup Station. There's no dedicated parking lot, so it's more convenient to visit by public transit.
Instead of the busy feel of Seongsu's main street, the atmosphere quietly settles as you walk deeper into the alley. The exterior already has a charming feel, and the inside isn't overly formal either — it's a comfortable space to eat in, which I liked.

So it seemed like a great spot for a brunch date with friends, or somewhere to stop for a meal during a Seongsu date. Huirit actually serves pasta and gnocchi alongside wine, making it a good fit for an evening date spot too.

A renovated house with natural light
I found this place while looking for a nice-atmosphere Italian dining spot between Seongsu and Seoul Forest, and since it's built inside an old house, it has a coziness different from a typical restaurant. Huirit is indeed a converted small house with outdoor seating as well.
The first thing that caught my eye walking into Huirit was the natural light pouring in through the big windows. The wood-framed windows, cream-toned walls, and warm lighting came together for an overall calm yet cozy mood. With the greenery visible through the windows added in, it felt a little relaxing even though we were right in the middle of Seongsu.
The tables and chairs mixed different materials and colors naturally, giving off a comfortable, vintage feel rather than something too polished. A small painting leaned against one wall, and little architectural details like a wall window or a staircase made it fun to look around while eating.

Personally, I think this kind of atmosphere matters a lot when looking for a good Seongsu brunch spot. Rather than a place where you eat fast and leave, it has the kind of mood where you want to sit a while and talk, which is why it also works well as a Seongsu date restaurant.

If you're looking for a quiet, warm Seongsu-dong spot rather than something flashy or crowded, Huirit was pretty good. It's nice to stop by before or after a Seoul Forest walk, and it's worth adding to a Seoul Forest date course if you want atmosphere along with the meal.

Beef Wellington is a reservation-only item
I ordered Beef Wellington and rocket tomato spaghetti. Beef Wellington was one of the dishes I was most looking forward to at Huirit.

It's known as Huirit's signature dish, and it's not something you often find at a regular pasta place, so I really wanted to try it this time. Just note that Beef Wellington is listed as a reservation-only menu item, so it's best to check before visiting.

When the dish landed on the table, the visual grabbed my attention first. The outside had that crisply baked pastry look, and since you cut it along with the meat inside, it was fun to watch too.

Even in photos, the dish itself is such a centerpiece that if you're looking for a good-atmosphere restaurant in Seongsu, ordering this will really liven up the table.
The texture contrast between pastry and meat
On the first bite, the crispy shattering texture of the outer pastry came through first. The outside was light and nutty, and as I went further in, the flavor of tender beef followed, so the contrast in texture was clear.
The pairing of pastry and meat together worked especially well. Eating just the crust gives a plain, nutty flavor first, but eating it with the meat added a deeper, meatier richness.

The beef wasn't tough at all — more tender to chew — which contrasted well with the crispy exterior. It was fun to eat since you get both crispy and moist-tender textures in one bite.

I also liked that Beef Wellington wasn't as heavy as I expected on my first try.

Since it's a meat dish, I expected a really heavy flavor, but the nuttiness of the pastry and the clean richness of the meat were the main notes, so it didn't feel too heavy even eaten slowly.
And cutting it piece by piece, I liked the process where the pastry texture comes through first, then the flavor of the meat builds as you chew.

If you usually stick to familiar orders like pasta or risotto, Beef Wellington is worth choosing on a day you want something a bit special in Seongsu.

It was especially good to share when visiting as two. Rather than one person eating a single dish alone, ordering a few dishes and splitting the Beef Wellington lets you enjoy a wider variety of flavors.

How does the rocket tomato pasta taste?
The rocket tomato pasta we ordered alongside it was more satisfying than I expected too.

I'd actually gone back and forth on what to pair with the Beef Wellington as the main, and in the end I was glad we also ordered the rocket tomato pasta.

Since it's built on a tomato sauce base, the first taste comes in relatively fresh. The tangy, savory flavor characteristic of tomato soaked naturally into the noodles, so one bite cleaned up the palate.
Adding rocket (arugula) on top gave it a different charm from a plain tomato sauce pasta. Rocket's fragrant, slightly bitter flavor blended with the tomato's brightness, making the taste feel more multidimensional.
So instead of just a tangy tomato pasta, there was a subtle rocket aroma that rose the more you chewed. The noodles weren't just coated on the surface — the tomato sauce blended in well, so sauce and noodles came together nicely in each bite.
Personally, when tomato sauce is too heavy or overly rich, I sometimes get tired of it after a few bites, but here the rocket kept the whole thing feeling fresher overall.

Alternating with the Beef Wellington
So alternating bites — one bite of Beef Wellington, one bite of pasta — worked really well as a combo. With the Beef Wellington you get the rich, nutty flavor of meat and pastry, and in between, the rocket tomato pasta's tangy tomato and rocket aroma reset the palate each time.
On its own, the pasta wasn't overly intense, so it was easy to keep eating. The tomato sauce's acidity felt bright at first, but as you kept eating, the savory depth and the noodle's nuttiness came up too, so the balance was good.

Above all, the plate looked pretty with a generous amount of rocket on top. The vivid contrast between the red tomato sauce and green rocket made the colors pop, and it photographed nicely too.

For anyone looking for a good Seongsu pasta restaurant that cares about plating and atmosphere as well as taste, this would suit you well. It was genuinely delicious — I think I'd order the tomato pasta again next time!

Why we ordered both dishes together
I was more satisfied eating this alongside the Beef Wellington that day — rather than picking just one, ordering both dishes together made for a combination where each filled in what the other lacked, which is why it stuck with me. The meat had its own richness, and the pasta felt fresh thanks to the tomato and rocket, so the flavors never leaned too far in one direction.
Seongsu has no shortage of restaurant options, but when you actually try to pick a place for a date or a gathering, it's not easy to find somewhere that satisfies both atmosphere and menu at once. In that sense, Huirit had good harmony overall, from the space's mood to the menu lineup. In particular, the Beef Wellington we had that day requires a reservation in advance, making it a good pick for a day you want a slightly more special meal, and the rocket tomato pasta was great to order alongside it since it balances out the meal.

If you want a slightly more atmospheric meal in Seongsu than an ordinary plate of pasta, Huirit is worth saving. It's a good stop before or after a Seoul Forest walk, and it also suits a day when you want to eat well and chat at a relaxed pace. Next time, I'd like to try other pasta dishes or the gnocchi. If you've been looking for a restaurant in Seongsu-dong with real atmosphere, give Huirit a check. :)
