Hi everyone~ I'm Bokdeong, an office worker in Gwacheon. I was complaining over lunch that my hair felt frizzy and my roots were falling flat, and a teammate said she'd lived in Gwacheon for over 20 years and works here too, and had been going to the same salon for over a decade. So she introduced me to One & Only Hair Gwacheon Government Complex Station! Turns out everyone in the office already knew the name the moment I mentioned it lol — apparently I was the only one who didn't know about this already-famous salon ㅠ

It's exactly a 5-minute walk from my office, which was perfect timing after work 🏃‍♀️💨 My crown volume had been falling flat lately and my hair felt dry and stressed-out, so I got a root volume perm plus protein care to fix it 💇‍♀️✨

Let's start with the before and after!!! I had two treatments the same day: the ₩110,000 protein clinic (5.0 base + 6.0 length surcharge) and the ₩90,000 root perm.

What the salon looks like inside and out

One & Only Hair Government Complex Station branch is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of Government Complex Station. It's on the basement level of the Hanyang Sujain officetel building, so it was easy to find🔎

Overall the location and accessibility were both great😝

Not many salons have a nice view, so I got to relax a lot while waiting~!

The cutting area is really pleasant too!! Sometimes at other salons the floor is covered in hair clippings and it feels a bit uncomfortable, right? But One & Only Hair Gwacheon Government Complex Station branch is really clean!!!

After storing my bag and sitting in the waiting area for a bit, the manager came over for a consultation~

While I waited for the consultation they gave me a snack and tea!! They also offered toast, but I'd already eaten so I passed ~

Scalp diagnosis and consultation at One & Only Hair

Once the consultation started, they carefully checked my scalp condition using a precision scalp analysis machine!

Premium scalp diagnosis equipment you'd expect at a specialized scalp clinic center!!!

They listened to my usual concerns and condition, and suggested solutions while actually looking at my scalp. Turns out my scalp was on the dry side and my hair was thin ㅠ I'd sort of guessed that already, but seeing it explained in detail made my scalp condition really sink in.

The 'Ojua Care' lineup!! They had all kinds of specialized care products tailored to different hair conditions!

Since my scalp was quite dry, I got a moisture-focused product from the range of Ojua care items suited to dry scalps. I'm planning to keep getting scalp clinic treatments from manager Minjeong going forward😁 She doesn't push products excessively, she just explains and recommends exactly what's needed — manager Minjeong is the best 👍

Protein one-care clinic for dry hair: 110,000 won

We moved to the shampoo room, where the protein one-care started before the root volume perm~

The shampoo room chair is a massage chair!!!! Truly proper healing ㅠ

They gave me a scalp massage too, so all my fatigue melted away ㅠ Manager, the best!!!!

After the shampoo, they carefully applied the Ojua protein care product to my hair.

First, they thoroughly applied a scalp-specific ampoule to scrub away old buildup and sebum. Then they used a steamer to add moisture and soften up the buildup on my scalp.

Once the care was finished, they rinsed it out once and moved on to the perm~ I heard the protein one-care clinic is especially good to get right before another treatment because it reduces damage, and I got it — my hair really did end up much less damaged than my usual perm experience!!!

How the 90,000 won root volume perm was done

The perm took about an hour~ After applying the perm solution, the manager carefully rolled each section onto rollers one by one lol

Then she applied heat, and used some kind of tool specifically for root perms to give a second round of heat, designing each section carefully!

Since my hair is thin and my roots tend to fall really flat, she made sure to lift them as much as possible!!

Then neutralize once more~ rinse and dry, and that's it!!

Sweet manager Minjeong even kindly walked me through how to dry it step by step ㅠ Ta-da!!!!!!!!!!!

Does the root volume hold up when you dry your hair at home?

So pretty right ㅠㅠㅠ Can you tell from the photos how much better my hair looks? It used to be completely frizzy, but after the clinic I was reborn with silky hair!!!

You can definitely see the root volume came back too, right?? Even drying it carelessly at home, it stayed like this. I'm so happy I don't have to struggle every morning trying to lift my roots anymore ㅠㅠ I've been worried about root volume for so long because my hair is thin, so solving it like this makes me genuinely happy — I should've done this sooner ㅠㅠ

Above all, having my scalp condition thoroughly examined through the diagnosis, and getting a clinic and treatment recommended specifically for my hair condition, made the results even more satisfying! Parking was easy, the salon was pleasant, the manager worked fast, and chatting with her was fun too (no personal questions, no pressure). She's great at root perms, but I hear this place is also famous for cuts, so if you're nearby I'd recommend checking it out.
