I was craving something a bit different from what I usually eat around Hanam Misa, so I went looking and ended up at O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch. Just the name sounds like it's going to properly restore your energy, right? On a day when I wanted something warm and hearty instead of the usual, I decided to check it out. This time I went with a close coworker's family.

When you head out for a family meal around Hanam Misa, parking stress can sometimes start before you even sit down, so being able to skip that worry was a real plus.

Since I was moving around with a kid, having easy parking felt like a pretty important detail personally.
Inside the restaurant: is seating comfortable for families?
The inside of O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch was clean and felt more spacious than I expected.

The tables had generous spacing, which made it comfortable for a family visit, and the atmosphere didn't feel cramped even with a larger group eating together.
Menu lineup and what we ordered
O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang is, as the name suggests, a place centered on hwangje nurungjitang, with a variety of dishes built around it. I was told the nutty, warm broth of nurungjitang (crispy rice soup) comes loaded with seafood, which had me looking forward to it.

Besides the nurungjitang, there were also single dishes like sweet and sour pork, chili shrimp, and palbochae (mixed seafood and vegetable stir-fry), which made it nice for a group to share.

The basic table setting and the self-serve side dish corner
Here's the basic side dish setup that comes out before the main dishes arrive. Served neatly in brass bowls, it gave off an even more refined feel.

And O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang had a handy self-serve corner set up.

The neatly arranged corner had a variety of side dishes ready to go, so if you ran low on anything you could just help yourself without feeling awkward about it. The side dishes especially had that home-cooked feel, which paired nicely with the main dishes.

According to the sign, the side dishes were meant to be portioned out only as much as you'll eat, which gave it a sense of being kept clean and well-managed.

If a side dish ran short during the meal, I didn't have to call over a staff member — I could just go grab more myself, which was personally quite convenient.

There was also fruit ready as a palate cleanser after the meal, which I enjoyed as a light dessert.
Seafood nurungjitang, 18,000 won: portion and taste
The seafood nurungjitang I ordered at O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang was ₩18,000, and it was hearty enough to satisfy even as a single order. Personally I'd say it was more like 1.5 servings rather than one — really generous. It came out piping hot in a stone pot, bubbling away the moment it hit the table, and looked absolutely appetizing.

It was packed with a good variety of seafood and vegetables — squid, shrimp, scallops, mushrooms, broccoli — and the broth was thick with a refreshing seafood flavor.

Pouring the hot broth over the crispy rice added a nutty, chewy texture that gave it a different charm compared to a typical seafood stew.

Rather than being sharply spicy or salty, it leaned savory and nutty, which made it fine to eat with a kid too, and the warm broth made for a satisfying meal.

Personally, I found it tastiest to eat some of the seafood first, then wait until the rice had fully softened in the broth. Since it's such a warm dish, I think it's especially great to seek out on a chilly day or when you want a hearty pick-me-up.
Combo platter, 39,000 won: tangsuyuk, yurinki and chili shrimp
We also ordered the combo platter (₩39,000), which lets you try sweet and sour pork, yurinki, and chili shrimp all at once.

First, the sweet and sour pork had a batter that stayed nice and crispy while the meat inside was tender. The tangy-sweet sauce came with pineapple, cherry tomatoes, and broccoli, which made it look quite appetizing too. The sauce wasn't too heavy, so it was easy to keep picking pieces up one by one.

The yurinki was personally the most impressive item in the combo platter.

Crispy fried chicken was topped generously with cheongyang chili peppers, scallions, and more chili, with a tangy, sharp sauce that cut through the richness. Eating the meat together with the vegetables made it taste even cleaner. It also wasn't as spicy as I expected, so even as someone who can't handle spice well, I enjoyed it.

The chili shrimp had plump shrimp coated in a sweet chili sauce, making it a flavor that wasn't too much for a kid to eat either. The shrimp were large enough to give a good bite, and the sauce had a subtle addictiveness that kept my chopsticks going back for more.
Verdict: how good is it for a family meal in Hanam Misa?
If you're in Hanam Misa looking for something a bit different from the usual, something that feels like a proper energy boost, give O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa branch a try. Being able to enjoy hot broth, seafood, and nutty crispy rice all together made it a great spot for when you want a hearty meal.

A place where the menu range was good enough that I'd like to try other dishes one by one next time. If you're looking for a family meal or a hearty dish in Hanam Misa, I'd recommend O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang.
