Yongin sundaeguk restaurant, 10-minute weekday lunch wait: Yennal
In short
Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Yongin Main Branch is a sundaeguk (pork and blood sausage soup) restaurant in a Yongin Central Market alley in Gimnyangjang-dong, Yongin. Three of us arrived at noon on a weekday and ordered two sundaeguk and one sundae-only bowl; eight teams were ahead of us, but turnover was quick and we were seated in about 10 minutes. The earthenware pot came packed with native-style sundae and head meat, we stirred in the rice and scraped it clean — a hearty, easy pick whenever you want hot soup and rice.

Menu and what three of us ordered

There were three of us, and we ordered 2 regular sundaeguk and 1 sundae-only bowl.

How long is the wait at noon on a weekday?
Visiting at noon on a weekday, we had about 8 teams ahead of us. Not surprising, honestly, since this Gyeongseong Sundaeguk branch always has a line — it's a well-known Yongin Central Market favorite haha. Turnover was quick though, so we were seated after about a 10-minute wait.

Here's the vibe inside. Not a huge number of tables, but since it's soup, turnover is good, and the staff move so fast that everything runs smoothly.

I even spotted traces of visits from chef Lee Won-il and Hong Seok-cheon. It's already famous, but knowing celebrities have stopped by too makes it that much more exciting haha.
Side dishes and the table setup at Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk

As soon as we sat down, the basic sides arrived — kimchi and diced radish kimchi that go so well with the soup, plus onion and chili to nibble on in between. A solid, no-frills lineup made purely for pairing with sundaeguk.
Whatever's missing you can grab yourself from the self-serve bar — just take what you'll actually eat!
The table already had salted shrimp, spicy paste, cheongyang chili, perilla powder, chili oil, salt, and pepper ready to go — adjust to taste.
Also, if you write a receipt review, you can get free chal-sundae (glutinous rice sausage) — ask the staff if you're interested haha.
The sundaeguk arrives bubbling two minutes after ordering

Our order showed up almost exactly 2 minutes after we ordered.
It arrives still fiercely bubbling in the stone pot, so be careful — the broth feels like it's about 130 degrees. Just looking at it feels so satisfying, haha.
A generous amount of sundaeguk at first glance, and the rice bowl is packed full too.
With just one scoop of the spoon, the headmeat, organs, and sausage were already piled up sky-high. No wonder this place is so popular.

Sundae-only bowl: packed with native-style sundae
The sundae-only sundaeguk was loaded with an insane amount of native-style sundae (traditional blood sausage). Their attitude is basically 'we don't even bother with the glutinous chal-sundae kind' — it's native sausage through and through.

How to make the sundaeguk spicy
If you like it spicy, order the spicy sundaeguk, or use the spicy paste on the table. My friend went all in with the paste and cheongyang chili for a properly spicy bowl.

Highly recommend this combo if you drank the night before — the spicy kick really clears you out.

Even the regular sundaeguk had 3 big chunks of native sausage in it. It was too hot to eat straight away, so I set them on the rice lid and ate them one by one — so chewy and delicious.

Headmeat, sausage, it just keeps coming no matter how much you eat. It goes so well with the kimchi and radish kimchi too, and with a little salted shrimp on top it's heaven.
See how milky-white the broth is — even just looking at it you can tell how savory it is. This is exactly the kind of broth you have to mix rice into.
Even after eating through all the solid ingredients first and then adding rice, there was still plenty left. A place with an always-there line really is different.
Mixing the rice in properly and piling on the ingredients with kimchi on top — it's the kind of flavor that just blows your mind. So so so so good.

Finished the whole pot — seriously so good.
Ingredient origins, aprons and the outside restroom

See the photo above for the origin labeling. Disposable aprons are also available inside the restaurant for anyone who needs one haha.
The restroom is outside, so you'll need to take the key — and please, please remember to return it.
Who is this Yongin sundaeguk spot for?
If you're looking for somewhere to eat near Yongin Central Market, or hunting for a great sundaeguk spot, I highly, highly recommend this place. It's a no-fuss, filling pick whenever you're craving hot soup, and it's also convenient for browsing the market before or after your meal. Highly recommended for anyone in Gimnyangjang-dong looking for a hearty, satisfying meal.
