Hanam Misa ramen restaurant with an extra broth add-on: Menji
In short
Menji Hanam Misa Branch is a ramen restaurant on the ground floor of a residential building in Misa, Hanam, Gyeonggi, serving house-made whole-wheat fresh noodles. Ahead of an October trip to Japan, the writer and her partner came to preview ramen flavors and ordered tori paitan ramen with extra broth and extra menma (seasoned bamboo shoots), kara tantanmen, and handmade pork loin tonkatsu. The milky chicken broth, simmered long for deep savory flavor, was the highlight, and small touches like hair ties and a wireless charging stand made Menji memorable.

Why we came to Menji in Hanam Misa before a Japan trip
Menji Hanam Misa Branch is a Japanese-style ramen restaurant on the 1st floor at 36 Misagangbyeon-buk-ro 30beon-an-gil, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do. My partner and I are planning a trip to Japan in October, and I wanted to get a little taste of ramen beforehand, so today I went looking for a good ramen spot in Hanam!

Hanam ramen spot Menji Hanam Misa Branch is attached to the bakery next door! Like a shop-in-shop! Even if you drive, it's convenient since it's on the ground floor of a residential building!

Inside Menji Hanam Misa Branch: atmosphere and seating
The interior is a cozy Hanam ramen spot divided into a bar table and a 4-person table, enough for two groups. And the interior decor is so cute. I want those figures!!!! The Shin-chan figure is so adorable haha

Hair ties and a charging stand on the table at Menji
Here's where I really felt the owner's sense of care at Menji Hanam Misa Branch.
- Hair ties for people with long hair
- A phone stand with wireless charging
- A small plate for portioning out takanazuke (pickled mustard greens) — I loved that they wrote a note on plastic wrap telling you to use the plate underneath since the top one collects dust 👍🏻
There was also a guide for how to best enjoy Menji's chicken broth.
- First taste the smooth, rich handmade chicken broth.
- Enjoy the nutty flavor and chewy texture of the handmade whole-wheat fresh noodles.
- Dip the handmade sous-vide pork shoulder char siu in the broth before wrapping it around the noodles.
- Add a little whole black pepper and house-made rayu (chili oil) on the table.
- Add 2–3 spoons of ramen broth to the mini rice and enjoy it like a risotto.

Handmade pork loin tonkatsu with wasabi and salt
Menji's handmade pork loin tonkatsu was perfectly crispy outside and juicy inside, and the loin cut seemed to have a nice balance of fat and lean meat. Wasabi with salt — need I say more, haha. There's also a separate tonkatsu sauce that goes well with it, and the salad dressing was a sweet-and-sour yuzu sauce that really got my appetite going!
How to best enjoy Menji's handmade pork loin tonkatsu
- Dip it in salt to enjoy the nutty flavor of the fresh Korean pork loin.
- Try it with Menji's special secret tonkatsu sauce.
- Pair it with the refreshing yuzu salad and fragrant wasabi.

Kara tantanmen: how spicy is it, and the cashew flavor
Menji's kara tantanmen, another dish we tried something different with — it had both spiciness and cashew nuttiness, hitting both notes at once, so my ramen-loving partner finished it completely and happily. The noodles themselves are handmade using whole wheat, giving them a nutty flavor and firm texture, which made the fresh noodles even more noticeable.

Tori paitan ramen with extra broth and extra menma
What I ordered myself was Menji's tori paitan ramen! You could really tell the chicken had been simmered for a long time. Like... it tasted almost like a whole chicken boiled for 6 hours?? The broth was so milky, clear, and clean that I wanted to enjoy it a little more, so I added extra broth. The broth had such great umami! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 And I added menma too~

Today I introduced Menji, a Hanam ramen spot I really enjoyed, and everyone tells me ramen lovers would like this flavor too >_< I like going around the neighborhood occasionally for these little food-hunting healing trips, and how about trying Menji, a Hanam ramen spot, for your own lunch or dinner food-hunting healing today??
