Jeju sashimi takeout for a stay-in dinner with a baby: Dutumhoe
In short
Dutumhoe Dongmun Market Main Branch is a sashimi takeout shop inside the night market at Gate 8 of Dongmun Market in Jeju City. On day one of a 3-night, 4-day Jeju trip with a 5-month-old baby, the writer took away assorted sashimi (flatfish, salmon, hairtail, amberjack and threadfin bream) for 35,000 won, mackerel pressed sushi for 15,000 won and eight coconut fried shrimp for 10,000 won to eat at the Jeju City accommodation. Dutumhoe packs everything in a cooler bag at no extra cost, which kept the fish fresh through the heatwave and was the deciding reason for choosing it.

A 3-night, 4-day trip to Jeju with our 5-month-old baby. On day one we were staying at a place in Jeju City, and honestly, going out to eat dinner with a baby in tow felt like a lot ㅠㅠ So we decided to handle dinner with takeout or delivery instead — and I found a sashimi restaurant in Dongmun Market that was perfect for picking up dinner in the city!
Where is Dutumhoe Dongmun Market Main Branch, and where do you park?
Dutumhoe Dongmun Market Main Branch is located inside the night market at Gate 8 of Dongmun Market. The big blue sign with the shop name made it easy to find.

For parking, we used the Dongmun Market public parking lot. It has elevators, so pushing a stroller through wasn't a problem at all.

A takeout-only shop with no seats: inside Dutumhoe

Dutumhoe is a sashimi takeout specialist in Dongmun Market, so there's no seating. It's divided into sashimi, sushi, and fried food sections, and everything is neatly pre-sliced and packaged, which made it easy to browse. There's even a fish tank on one side of the shop that was fun to look at.
Dutumhoe menu and prices
Sashimi, including hairtail

On the far right was the sashimi section.
- Assorted sashimi – ₩35,000
- Dutum Signature – ₩40,000
- Striped squid – ₩45,000
- Live mackerel / flatfish / flatfish+salmon / flatfish+salmon+sweet shrimp – ₩25,000
- Sweet shrimp sashimi – ₩15,000
The lineup was mostly popular, crowd-pleasing types of sashimi, and they said the live mackerel sashimi is caught to order.

We chose the assorted sashimi because the combination looked great — though I'd recommend checking closely, since each plate of assorted sashimi has slightly different fish. We picked the plate with flatfish, salmon, hairtail, amberjack, and threadfin bream. Neither of us had ever tried hairtail sashimi before, so we specifically picked the plate that included it!
Sushi: mackerel pressed sushi and futomaki

On the left counter were the sushi and futomaki.
- Single sushi piece – ₩9,000
- Original futomaki – ₩13,000
- Mackerel pressed sushi – ₩15,000
We picked the mackerel pressed sushi, which I absolutely love. The Dutumhoe chefs apparently have a Japanese-cuisine background, which is why even the sashimi is cut into long slices, and why they offer things like futomaki and pressed sushi.
Fried: coconut shrimp

Besides the various sashimi, Dutumhoe also has fried food. The coconut fried shrimp smelled so good that we packed some of that too haha. If you join their Naver review event, they'll apparently give you 3 extra pieces of coconut fried shrimp, so definitely give it a try haha.
- Coconut fried shrimp, 8 pieces – ₩10,000
The only cooler bag takeout in Dongmun Market

The biggest reason we chose Dutumhoe as our Dongmun Market sashimi takeout spot was the cooler bag! They said Dutumhoe Dongmun Market Main Branch is the only sashimi shop in the market that packs orders in a cooler bag. Jeju was so hot that day there was a heatwave warning in effect, and since sashimi can spoil easily, getting it packed in a cooler bag was a huge advantage. And they don't even charge extra for it!
An honest taste test back at the Jeju City stay, once the baby was asleep

Back at the accommodation, we put the baby to sleep and finally got to sit down for dinner...! haha Thanks to the cooler bag, the food had stayed nice and fresh.

Looks like a proper feast just from the photo, right? They gave us plenty of side condiments too — vinegar-chili sauce, soy sauce, wasabi, pickled ginger, and even aged kimchi. That little soy sauce dish in particular was really convenient.
Assorted sashimi: flatfish, salmon, hairtail, threadfin bream, amberjack, in that order. The amberjack, which was in season, was wonderfully chewy, and the threadfin bream, which I tried for the first time, had a great texture too. But the one I was most looking forward to — the hairtail sashimi — was surprisingly fresh and delicious with zero fishy taste! And the mackerel pressed sushi looked like something straight out of a Japanese restaurant — way too high quality for something picked up at a market. Eating it with pickled ginger on top made it even better :)

The coconut fried shrimp was perfect dipped in chili sauce. It probably would've been even better eaten hot haha. It's only ₩10,000, and the portion is huge!

My husband had his with Hallasan soju, and since I don't drink much, I had mine with green tangerine juice haha. With this generous spread of takeout from a Dongmun Market sashimi shop, we had a delicious dinner at our stay after finally getting the baby down for the night.
