Sangdaewon-dong bossam restaurant in Seongnam: kaljebi and makguksu

In short

Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch is a bossam and kalguksu (Korean knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Sangdaewon-dong, Seongnam, Gyeonggi. A family of three ordered the bossam set for two at 10,000 won per person, added a sujebi (hand-torn dough) sari to turn the kalguksu into kaljebi, and shared a bowl of makguksu (chilled buckwheat noodles); the gabrisal bossam came out tender rather than dry. With rice free to take from the self-serve bar, Bossam Ae Kalguksu made for a good-value family lunch with a child.

Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch bossam set table spread

MJ here! After church, my husband, my kid Pyeongan, and I went out for lunch together as a family of three. The place we picked that day was Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch!

These days even ordering a few menu items for a meal out adds up fast, but here the bossam set is ₩10,000 per person and includes kalguksu (noodle soup) too...!!! That definitely caught my eye!!

I'd been looking for a lunch menu to eat with my kid, and a set with both bossam and kalguksu looked pretty solid. To cut to the chase — we left really full and happy. 😊

What comes with the 10,000 won bossam set at Bossam Ae Kalguksu

The bossam set at Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch is ₩10,000 per person and lets you enjoy both bossam (boiled pork wraps) and kalguksu together. We ordered the set for two and added sujebi (hand-torn dough) sari and makguksu on top.

Given the ₩10,000 price, it felt pretty generous. And the kalguksu portion was ample enough for all three of us to share without running short.

Adding sujebi sari: turning the kalguksu into kaljebi for the kids

Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch has sujebi sari as an add-on, so you can turn the kalguksu into kaljebi. Pyeongan already loves kalguksu on its own, but since sujebi sari was on the add-on list, I quickly added it too.

Should have shaken off the flour first... lol

Thanks to that, our table's kalguksu instantly turned into kaljebi! Haha. Pyeongan really loves chewy flour foods like noodles and rice cakes, and today was a total win... haha. She ate so well.

Watching her keep saying it was really delicious made me quietly proud as a mom. If your kid is good with noodles or sujebi, I'd genuinely recommend this as a family meal out!

Is the gabrisal bossam dry or tender?

The bossam at Bossam Ae Kalguksu apparently uses gabrisal (pork shoulder blade meat). They said they only use meat boiled the same day, which felt a bit more reassuring when eating out with a kid.

Even in photos, the meat grain looks soft, right? Tasting it, it really was tender and moist without any dryness — so good! With bossam, if the meat is too dry you end up relying on kimchi or sauce, but this meat was soft enough to eat plain. A piece of bossam topped with pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi) was a perfect match.

Rice from the self-serve bar, as much as you need

Another thing I loved about Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch was that you can grab as much rice as you need from the self-serve bar.

Gim flakes and rice for making porridge

Kalguksu included, and unlimited rice too..... isn't this basically a value-for-money paradise, haha. Being able to grab rice yourself as much as needed made the meal feel low-pressure.

You can even add rice to the leftover kalguksu broth to make porridge (gim/seaweed flakes provided, lol). We initially said we'd try the porridge too... but after kalguksu, bossam, and makguksu, we were already too full and never made it to the porridge. 😂 Next time I really want to try it.

Pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi), the perfect match for bossam

What I especially liked that day was the pa-kimchi! It went well with the bossam and also paired nicely with the kalguksu.

It was pleasantly tangy with well-absorbed seasoning, so putting a piece on each bite of meat kept my chopsticks going. Honestly it was so good... I won't lie, I wanted to take some home. 😂

Makguksu: cold, sweet-and-tangy buckwheat noodles

Eating just bossam felt like it needed more, so we added makguksu.

Topped with assorted vegetables and gim flakes, with a sweet-and-tangy sauce that really woke up the appetite! A bite of bossam followed by a bite of makguksu balanced the meat's richness with the noodles' tang nicely. Especially after warm dishes like kalguksu, the cool makguksu felt like a palate reset in between — glad we ordered it.

Looking for good value in Sangdaewon-dong, Seongnam

We came for lunch as a family of three and ended up eating quite a spread — bossam, kalguksu, sujebi, and makguksu. What stuck with me most was that the bossam set is ₩10,000 per person and includes kalguksu.

Bossam set spread enjoyed by the family of three

If you want bossam but the price usually holds you back, or you're looking for a menu to share with a kid, this kind of set feels pretty practical. The bossam is tender, the kalguksu is generous, adding sujebi turns it into kaljebi that kids love, and you can take as much rice as you need from the self-serve bar — genuinely a good-value meal.

Most of all, seeing Pyeongan happily eat her kaljebi was satisfying enough for me as a mom. 😊 If you're searching for restaurants in Sangdaewon-dong or a Seongnam bossam restaurant with an affordable family option, Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch is worth a visit. We were too full to try the post-kalguksu porridge this time, but I'm definitely going for it next time, haha.
