So I wanted to try a Han River sashimi picnic myself, and I visited Ttangkkeut Maeul, a well-known sashimi spot at Noryangjin Fish Market. Let me show you in detail how I packed the sashimi and enjoyed the Han River picnic!!

I arrived at Noryangjin Fish Market to pack sashimi to eat by the Han River. I headed into the market to find Ttangkkeut Maeul, today's destination.

Market aisle lined with seafood shops

Once inside the market, seafood shops lined both sides of the aisle. Each shop had a sign with its name and number, so I checked the signs as I made my way to Ttangkkeut Maeul.

How to carry sashimi from Noryangjin to the Han River

When I mentioned we were eating by the Han River, the owner tossed in an extra ice pack — what a thoughtful touch haha!! Thank you!

Picnic spot at Yeouido Hangang Park

We packed the sashimi and headed to nearby Yeouido Hangang Park. It's close if you get off at Nodeul Station! Highly recommend it as a sashimi picnic spot!!!

What's in the small assorted jack mackerel platter at Ttangkkeut Maeul?

To welcome fall, we ordered Ttangkkeut Maeul's small jack mackerel assorted sashimi set. It was generously composed of striped jack mackerel, flounder, red seabream, and sea bass, giving us a proper sashimi picnic experience.

The set comes with sashimi, chogochujang (vinegared chili paste), ssamjang (thick soybean paste), and four packets of soy sauce! They gave us plenty of soy sauce too — four packets — which is great for someone like me who loves dipping generously!!

Sashimi with a view of the Han River!! It was so romantic haha. The autumn breeze was so nice and cool too, perfect for a picnic these days!🍃

How did the autumn jack mackerel taste at Yeouido Hangang Park?

Autumn jack mackerel has more fat on it, so it was nutty and had a nice firm, springy texture.

They gave us plenty of wasabi too, so we never ran short. Can you see the fat marbling on the sashimi? It was really chewy and the richness of the fat was so sweet haha.

The jack mackerel came in generous portions too, so I'd dip it in chogochujang and take a bite!

The nutty red seabream was great dipped in wasabi soy sauce too haha. So chewy and just the right thing to eat right now.
