Suwon sushi buffet with yakiniku and bead ice cream: Kuu Kuu Gold

Today I went to Kuu Kuu Gold Suwon City Hall Branch, a sushi buffet in Inge-dong, Suwon. Kuu Kuu Gold is famous as one of the best sushi spots in Inge-dong — you all know it even without me saying so, haha! There's so much more to eat here than at a regular Kuu Kuu. It's been a while since I visited Kuu Kuu, so being at the Gold branch made me even more excited.

Weekday lunch wait and what the Suwon City Hall branch looks like

There's a waiting room once you ride the elevator up, but since we came on a weekday lunch there was no wait at all. I hear weekends and weekday dinners have quite a bit of waiting.

Even on a weekday lunch there were quite a lot of people. Food ran out and got refilled fast, so turnover was good, haha. I liked that it felt like you could keep eating something fresh.

The yakiniku grill corner only the Suwon City Hall branch has

The other Gold branches I've been to didn't have this. But at the City Hall branch, there's this yakiniku grill-it-yourself corner — right there!

Once you step in, there's yakiniku, regular pork belly, pork neck, chicken, and cuttlefish too, plus a variety of vegetables to grill. There's raw shrimp as well, so you can grill that too!!!

We only grilled a small amount just to taste, but the pork belly yakiniku was way tastier than expected, so we grilled another round, haha. Anyone who loves meat would love this corner.

Sushi and BBQ corner at Kuu Kuu Gold

Kuu Kuu is a well-known sushi spot in Inge-dong for a reason!! The sushi selection is varied. As soon as pieces empty out, they get refilled right away — gunkan, rolls, and regular sushi are all there. What's nice is that the rice portion isn't too big, so you don't fill up fast even after eating a lot. There's no wasabi already inside either, so you can add as much as you like.

The BBQ corner~~!! There were all kinds of marinated meats, including lamb. I believe dinner service has an even wider selection.

Pasta, pizza, Puringkeul fried chicken and buttered cheese corn

There was a pasta and pizza corner too, and I liked that the food was all warm. When it's soggy and looks like it's been sitting for a while, I don't feel like reaching for it, but here staff kept circling around checking and refilling, so it tasted better.

That ppuringkeul chicken tasted a bit like the snowing-cheese flavor from Nene Chicken, and it was crispy and delicious. And the butter cheese corn... totally my style. If you like magic corn (sweet buttered corn), you have to try this, haha. The kernels come off easily too.

Chinese corner and mala steamed clams

There's Chinese food too. Gwabaro (sweet and sour pork), gochujapchae (spicy stir-fried pork with glass noodles), flower bread, and what I think was mala clams — clams with a strong mala flavor that were seriously good... Kuu Kuu's food has gotten so much more varied than it used to be, which is probably why so many people come here.

Noodles cooked to order

At the noodle corner you can order right there and get it made fresh. There are plenty of options and it doesn't take long — it comes out almost immediately. Noodles get soggy if they sit, so getting them freshly made was a real plus.

What's at the fried food corner

The fried food corner also had a wide variety — takoyaki, menbosha, hot dogs, fried shrimp, french fries, sweet potato cheese balls, cheese sticks, and more. The sweet potato cheese balls and the fried rice cakes next to them were delicious, haha. The seasoning had a bit of that ppuringkeul flavor!

Yangnyeom gejang (marinated raw crab) hidden in the salad corner

The salad corner had all sorts of salads, and the dressings were super varied too. This corner also has yangnyeom gejang (soy-marinated raw crab) — don't miss it, haha.

Fruit, dessert and drinks corners

The fruit corner here had the most variety of any Kuu Kuu I've been to. The watermelon was sweet and delicious, the melon was tasty, and the pineapple and kiwi were perfectly sweet and tangy.

They put real effort into the dessert corner too, it seems. Pies and breads, and crepe cakes and puddings in various flavors were all lined up.

This is the drinks corner. Slush, sikhye (sweet rice punch), milk and cereal, plus sodas and fruit drinks, and next to that is the tea corner. There's a coffee machine too, and the hot milk tea from the coffee machine tasted like a proper royal milk tea.

Waffles and the chocolate fountain

When the waffles run out, a staff member grills more. Next to it is a chocolate fountain and a strawberry chocolate fountain, along with cookies and marshmallows for dipping. I made an ice cream waffle and it was so crispy and sweet — perfect for dessert.

Korean, Japanese and Chinese food on one plate

My style is to pile a huge amount on at once, haha. I brought back a little of each kind to try, then went back for more of whatever was good. The sushi was fresh and the Chinese dishes were tasty too. Being able to eat this much variety of Korean, Japanese, and Chinese food all in one place is probably the biggest strength of Kuu Kuu, the sushi buffet in Inge-dong.

I took an overhead shot before eating too. It's not really the trend these days, but this kind of shot looks cute to me, so I still take overhead shots now and then, lol. The hand holding the fork is the highlight.

After eating that plate, I went back once or two more times, then moved straight into dessert time. Watermelon... it's genuinely my favorite fruit, and this one wasn't watery at all — it had good sweetness, so I went back for more, haha.

Ice cream corner with Dippin' Dots bead ice cream

The ice cream corner is well stocked too — there are five or six flavors at least, and the bead ice cream isn't some knockoff, it's genuine Dippin' Dots, so it's insanely good. The banana split is the best... honestly you could go to Kuu Kuu just for the bead ice cream, no joke.

On my way out after paying, I noticed a birthday discount. If you visit on your actual birthday, you get 30% off. You need something to prove it's your birthday, haha.
