Hajodae Beach sashimi takeout as a late-night snack: Eosiljang

Today I visited Eosiljang Sashimi Takeout, a budget-friendly sashimi takeout spot near Hajodae in Yangyang. Let's get right into the review!!

Eosiljang Sashimi Takeout, a Yangyang sashimi takeout favorite, sits along the road from Hajodae Tollgate toward Hajodae Beach. This shop, close to Hajodae, has been loved for a long time and recently expanded and relocated.

You get there quickly after exiting Hajodae Tollgate, but the entrance is a bit tricky to find, so keep your eyes on the navigation. (It was my first time there, so I got lost once and had to turn around, haha.)

It was drizzling on and off that day so the weather wasn't great, but the shop sits in a newly developing residential area, so it was nice for a walk!

I decided to order first and go for a walk afterward~ They open at 3:30pm on this particular day, so I stopped by before checking into the accommodation, haha.

The building was noticeably pretty from the recent expansion and relocation! Besides takeout, there's also a cozy little table area for eating on the spot.

The menu lets you choose among assorted sashimi, flounder & rockfish, flounder only, or spicy fish stew. We ordered two servings of assorted sashimi to go~ If you forgot to bring alcohol, they also sell it at a reasonable price, so keep that in mind!

Since the prep and packing start right after ordering, it takes a bit of time, so we went for a walk nearby~

Even under a cloudy sky, the surroundings were clean and being nicely developed, so it was a great area for a stroll. We even walked around twice~ haha.

They packed everything neatly so it's easy to carry! Nice touch tying the bag so it wouldn't shake around. We carefully loaded it into the car like this and headed off, haha.

Barbecue first, sashimi later: a late-night second round at the pension

Once we got to the pension, we immediately put the Eosiljang Sashimi Takeout assorted sashimi in the fridge! For the first round today, we grilled a ton of meat, cleaned up, showered, and then decided for round two to have a light drink alongside the assorted sashimi we picked up from this Yangyang sashimi takeout spot.

After finishing up the shower, it was already late at night! And of course, sashimi is the (healthy?) way to go for late-night snacks~ Live-fish sashimi tastes great right away, but chilling it like this brings out an even chewier, springier texture.

The owner thoughtfully included sauce packets and seaweed that pair well with the sashimi. With just this one pack, you're fully set to enjoy the sashimi~

The two servings of assorted sashimi from Eosiljang Sashimi Takeout came split into two packs like this, which made setting up and eating a lot more convenient. The owner's thoughtfulness really shows!

We also brought along the leftover perilla leaves from the meat course~ And of course, for sashimi we prepared some Korean white wine and plum wine, haha.

The assorted sashimi at Eosiljang Sashimi Takeout changes with the season! It basically included flounder and rockfish, plus a seasonal fish I couldn't remember the name of — I asked Gemini and it turns out to be seasonal mullet (milchi/gasungeo), and true to being in season, it was fatty and chewy~

When you order the assorted sashimi, they also pack in a good variety of seafood, so there's plenty of fun picking through it! Abalone, whelk, sea squirt, shrimp — all packed in generously, and even though we were full, it disappeared in no time, haha.
