I had a nice dinner date planned in Yeouido... and that's how I ended up at Cuisine R. The menu ranges from pasta to pizza, risotto and steak, so it was great for a proper meal, and this time we brought along some champagne too. Order over ₩50,000 and corkage is free, so we ordered two dishes and enjoyed the champagne alongside them.

Where is Cuisine R, and what is the mood like?

Cuisine R is on the 2nd floor of the Baeksang Building and an easy walk from Yeouido Station. I really liked the atmosphere here. Stepping inside, the green walls, wood-tone tables and soft lighting all came together for a great evening mood ♡ There are round tables plus separate tables good for larger groups, so it seemed to suit both dates and group gatherings.

Pre-meal bread while the mains are cooking

At Cuisine R, pre-meal bread arrived first while we waited on our order. A basket came with two pieces of bread plus a sauce to dip them in.

One of the loaves was quite plump, so I picked it up and tore off pieces by hand. It was great for a light nibble with a glass of champagne before the mains came out, and we waited it out dipping the warm bread into the sauce.

Lunch set menus for 2, 3 and 4 people

Besides à la carte, Cuisine R also had quite a variety of set menus that scale with the number of people. Lunch sets are ₩60,000 for two, ₩90,000 for three, and ₩119,000 for four, and include pre-meal bread and salad plus pasta or risotto, with pizza and drinks added depending on the headcount.

There's also a separate chef's-recommendation Signature Set and Best Collection Set for two, plus a Signature Set for 3-4 people to share. If you're planning to order several pastas, risottos or pizzas, it's worth checking out the set menus too ♡

From a Yeouido Western-food date for two to a meal for a bigger group, the menu can be picked to fit your headcount, so next time I revisit this Yeouido Station restaurant I'd like to try one of the sets.

Ragu Bolognese and quattro formaggi pizza

The ragu Bolognese came out first. The ragu sauce, made with ground meat, was generously portioned, topped with arugula and cheese. It was great to slowly eat the noodles and ragu sauce together, mixing in the cheese as I went. There were quite a few pasta options too, so I'd like to try other dishes next time.

If you love cheese, the quattro formaggi pizza is the one ♡ It's made with four cheeses — gorgonzola, cheddar, reggiano and mozzarella.

The cheese was melted generously all the way to the center, and the crust edges came out baked thick. I ordered it because I love cheese, and while it was still hot I kept reaching for another slice.

A bite of ragu Bolognese, then a slice of pizza, then a sip of champagne. That's how we spent a slow evening over these two dishes.
