Classic tiramisu and drinks at Selected Nicks

My husband and I were in Seoul for the weekend and had a bit of time before heading home from Gangnam. It felt like a waste to leave without stopping somewhere, so we decided to check out Selected Nicks, known for its tiramisu. If you're looking for a large café near Gangnam Station worth exploring space-wise too, this is a great pick.

A different kind of entrance

The café entrance wasn't a typical front door but more like an alley leading inward. Parasols and a long row of outdoor tables sat out front, giving a distinctive first impression right away. We didn't use the parking, so I can't share notes on that.

1st-floor tiramisu and bakery display case

Once inside, we saw the tiramisu and various baked goods on display, and we went with the most basic option, the classic tiramisu.

For drinks, my husband ordered an iced americano, and I got a berry latte brewed with blueberry and black tea.

The 2nd floor is a small gallery

After ordering, we settled into a seat on the 3rd floor and went floor by floor to take a look around.

The 2nd floor, with its white walls and bright space, had actual artwork on display, giving it the feel of a small art gallery. A sign explained it's used as a space for exhibitions and community events, and aside from the rooftop, it was the most crowded floor. If you're after a gallery café near Gangnam Station, this floor would especially appeal to you.

The 3rd floor, where we sat, had a quiet, calm feel with white-toned seating and big windows.

Stepping outside, there was also a separate long balcony-style outdoor space. Soft floor lighting ran along it, making it nice for a quick breath of night air. If you're disappointed there's no seat on the rooftop, the 3rd floor is a good backup choice!

The 8th floor had a completely different vibe. Dim lighting and a long shared table gave it the feel of a dark library. Lots of people were working on laptops, so it seemed great for work, studying, or meetings — a fitting study café near Gangnam Station.

The rooftop left the biggest impression. When we went up, it was nearly full of people. Beyond the large NICK'S sculpture, Gangnam's buildings and sky stretched out, and the city's nighttime atmosphere was beautiful. If you want to enjoy tiramisu and coffee at a rooftop café near Gangnam Station on a nice day, this space is the most appealing.

After finishing our tour, we went back to the 3rd floor to try the classic tiramisu. Since you pick up a box and pay on the 1st floor before seeing the actual item, we hadn't known the size, but once we opened it, it had good height with thick layers of cream and sponge.

With the first spoonful, the soft cream wrapped around my mouth warmly first, then the moist coffee-soaked sponge unfolded gently after.

Behind the sweet, nutty cream came the bitterness of coffee and cocoa, so the sweetness never felt heavy. If you're looking for tiramisu near Gangnam Station, I think starting with the basic classic is a good idea.

Still a perfect match with americano

The iced americano wasn't overly bitter, with a light acidity followed by a nutty finish. Sipping it after a bite of tiramisu cleared the creaminess and sweetness from my mouth, making me want another bite of dessert.

A distinctive berry latte

The berry latte caught the eye with its soft lavender hue swirling through the milky base. The first sip had a smooth milk flavor, followed by the fragrance of black tea and the fresh fruitiness of blueberry. Rather than tasting like a purely sweet fruit milk, it had the calm aroma unique to tea lattes, making it enjoyable and distinctive to the last sip.

We initially planned to just stop by for tiramisu, but exploring the 2nd-floor gallery, 3rd-floor outdoor space, 8th-floor work area, and rooftop turned out to be surprisingly fun. It was interesting how the mood changed every time we moved floors within the same café, and what started as a quick break turned into a much longer stay than expected. As a large café near Gangnam Station, Selected Nicks was great in that you can choose whichever floor fits your purpose for visiting.
