Hanam comic café solo 5-hour escape: Real Toon Comic Café

A Friday-night solo visit to a Hanam comic café

It was Friday night, but my husband said he would be home late because he had plans with friends ㅠㅠ I had no plans either and nothing much to do at home, so I started wondering what I could do by myself—and ended up looking for a comic café.

Why I looked for a comic café as something to do alone

The place I visited today was Real Toon Comic Café, a comic café near Hanam Sports Complex in Misa. It is on the ninth floor of the building~

When you take the elevator up to the ninth floor, the big Real Toon logo is right in front of you. Since it is a comic café, the interior has a bookish feel to it haha.

There is a shoe locker when you enter. Put your shoes wherever you like, change into the indoor slippers, and hand the key to a staff member for safekeeping.

Hours and the 5-hour pass

Mon–Fri 11:00–23:00
Sat–Sun 10:00–23:00
Free parking for up to 5 hours 30 minutes

I did not take a photo of the price list, so here is a screenshot instead haha. I used the 5-hour pass! At ₩14,900, it was much better than I expected~~ Next time, I might take a day off on a weekday and try the all-day pass too lol.

What about food and amenities?

You cannot come to a comic café and not order food, right? lol There were lots of options, including fried rice and bunsik (Korean snack foods).

They also had snacks and ice cream, so it looked perfect for picking something up when you get peckish. In fact, I did buy an ice cream haha.

They had all kinds of things to help you control the temperature, including fans, abdominal heat pads, and blankets. There is also a terminal for searching books. I did not realize they even had a free printer? haha

There were board games too, plus Nintendo rooms where you can play Nintendo! If you get an all-day pass, play Nintendo and board games, and read comics, I think an entire day would disappear in a flash haha.

A tucked-away ground-floor room that was perfect for lounging alone

There are different kinds of rooms. You choose a room first, then tell the counter. I picked a tucked-away ground-floor room where I thought people would not walk by much.

The room was just the right size for one or two people! For one person to sprawl out in, it was more than roomy enough haha. It had soft cushions and mats laid out, and the gentle lighting made it feel so cozy. Maybe because it was tucked away, it was quiet too, and I did not have to worry at all about what anyone else thought haha.

Actually, I came straight over without having dinner, so I was starving as soon as I sat down. Food came before comics lol. You order through a QR code, and since you can scan it on your phone and order right from the room, it was so convenient—there was no need to go out.

After thinking it over, I chose a tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and fried snack set, plus a Coke Zero. I want to lose weight, but I also want tteokbokki and fried snacks, so ordering only a zero-sugar cola was my own little compromise haha. Does that not feel like the classic comic-café order?

Five hours vanished while reading Death Note

Then I finally went to choose comics, and I was shocked by how, how many there were! It seemed like they had just about everything, from new releases to older completed series~ If there is a book you are looking for, just type it into the search terminal and it tells you exactly which shelf it is on, so there is no worry about getting lost haha.

After wandering around for a while, I chose the famous Death Note! When I watched it as a kid, I only thought it was fun, but rereading it as an adult, the psychological battles and dialogue hit differently ㄷㄷ I read sitting up, then lay down as I was when my neck hurt, and really got absorbed in it lol. Once I focused on the comics, several hours just vanished in a flash.

Even though I came alone, I did not think I was bored even once lol. It is a secret that I almost texted my husband telling him he could come home late lol. The next time I have a day with nothing to do alone, I want to get an all-day pass and spend the whole day here~ Or I would like to come with my husband, get a Nintendo room, and have a game battle haha. For anyone looking for something fun to do alone in Hanam Misa, I really, really recommend Real Toon Comic Café!!
