Incheon master baker bakery: kkamang-i and 6 breads at Tomoru, Songdo

In short

Tomoru Bakery is a master baker's bakery on the first floor of the Arcria Building near Triple Street in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. Six items were picked and tasted at Tomoru Bakery — kkamang-i (a black cocoa bun), fresh vegetable croquette, choco baguette, pastry pizza bread, leaf pizza bread and milk bread — with the choco baguette holding a whole bar of Valrhona chocolate at 6,000 won. Balanced flavors and fair prices make Tomoru Bakery worth calling Incheon's number one bakery.

I was hanging out at Songdo's Triple Street and just couldn't walk past Tomoru Bakery, a place famous for its baked goods. So here goes — my review of Tomoru Bakery, seriously Incheon's number one bakery.

Tomoru Bakery hours, parking and location in Yeonsu, Incheon

Tomoru Bakery is open daily from 08:30 to 21:30. They give generous parking support in the underground lot of the Arcria Building, the building where the store is located (up to 4 hours).

  • Closes early when the bakery sells out
  • Organic / vegan / gluten-free menu items available
  • Everything from cakes to baked snacks, breads, and brunch items
  • Pet-friendly
  • Wheelchair and stroller access available

Inside Tomoru Bakery, a minute from Triple Street

It's been a real while since I visited Tomoru Bakery — since before I got married. Terrace seating is lined up all around the building.

They also serve basic drinks along with the baked goods, so it's nice to relax on the terrace for a while.

Walking inside, all kinds of breads sit there colorfully, practically calling my name.

Chweuhp... I want to eat all of it.

Cakes and baked snacks too — so much variety..!

Open baking space at Tomoru Bakery

The space where all the baked goods are made — opening up a space like that must mean they're confident in what they do. Hehe, as a true bread lover I wanted to take it all home, but I'll (try to) hold back a little.

Six kinds of breads picked at Tomoru Bakery

I loaded up: kkamang-i, fresh vegetable croquette, choco baguette, pastry pizza bread, leaf pizza bread, plus milk bread which isn't pictured.

What does Tomoru Bakery's fresh vegetable croquette taste like?

I love mandu (dumplings), vegetable hoppang (steamed buns), and vegetable croquettes, so honestly the fresh vegetable croquette is my top pick. There's a famous greasy sandwich bread at Gwangmyeong Market, and this is like the upgraded version of that.

The bread is soft and fluffy, and inside the salad, ham, cheese, and vegetables blend together perfectly — a great match.

Kkamang-i topped with walnut croquant and tangy cream cheese

This one's a real gem. First off, the topping on top isn't just plain walnuts. It looks like walnut crocant lightly toasted with sugar or honey. When you bite in, the roasted walnut aroma and that distinct sweet caramelized scent go really well with the bread.

Inside the bread there's cream cheese, so a tang cuts through the sweetness, which makes it quite appealing. The richness of the cream cheese also adds to a heavier, more satisfying texture.

Leaf pizza bread and pastry pizza bread: not too salty

Pizza breads generally have to clear a certain baseline. Tomoru Bakery's pizza breads were great because they weren't overly salty. Some bakeries drown theirs in sauce — they should really reflect on that.

Choco baguette with a whole Valrhona bar for 6,000 won

This is a baguette with whole Valrhona chocolate baked right in. Valrhona chocolate is expensive... I remember getting mad five years ago when I was heavily into making desserts, because Valrhona was already pricey and kept going up. Who knows how much more it costs now. And yet this baguette is only ₩6,000. Quite the bargain.

Baguette and chocolate, huh. Personally I'm someone who prefers savory, salty baguettes, so I figured the chocolate wouldn't really do it for me — but as usual, I was wrong. It wasn't overly sweet, and every so often you'd bite into a bit of Valrhona chocolate that boosted the sweetness just enough without getting monotonous. Really good.

Milk bread: the loaf my daughter kept for herself

She loves this thing so much... because of my daughter, I had to sneak bites of the milk bread on the side.

Verdict: is Tomoru Bakery really Incheon's top bakery?

As expected... it's different when a certified master baker is the one baking it personally. This is genuinely Incheon's top bakery. Every flavor is well balanced. And even the prices are kind, so you can enjoy high-quality bakery items without any worry. Anyone who really loves bread probably already knows Tomoru Bakery in Songdo, but if this is your first time hearing about it, definitely pay it a visit.
