Mandong Jegwa Yeonnam Branch is a bakery on the 1st floor of 32 Yeonhui-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. It's open from 11:00 to 21:00. You've probably heard of Mandong Jegwa before, right? It's the bakery famous in Gangneung for its garlic baguette! It also has a location in Yeonnam-dong, Seoul. There are so many bakeries in Yeonnam-dong, but among them, everyone who stops by Mandong Jegwa ends up buying something.

You can find it by coming out of Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station. I visited by bus, and if you take a bus, you can reach this Yeonnam-dong bakery within 5 minutes on foot. This Hongdae favorite bakery has a distinctive exterior, so it was easy to spot from a distance.
What breads does Mandong Jegwa sell, and how much do they cost?
You can find a variety of breads, including the shop's signature garlic baguette, cappuccino bread, and onion bagel. Besides the signature items, the shelves were packed with all kinds of delicious bakery goods. Sweet potato bread was ₩3,500, walnut bread ₩4,300, mugwort rice cake bread ₩4,900, and maple bread ₩4,900.

Cappuccino bread at 5,600 won and the free tasting samples
This is the cappuccino bread, one of the signature items. It's ₩5,600, and since I'd had it before and enjoyed it, I'd recommend it to anyone deciding what to buy at Mandong Jegwa. Also, the owner offered a sample so I could taste before choosing, which was nice. After tasting and finding it delicious, I ended up seeking out that bread to buy.

Top pick of this visit: sweet pumpkin ciabatta, 6,200 won
The bread that became my top pick at Mandong Jegwa this time was the sweet pumpkin ciabatta. It was my first time trying this sweet pumpkin ciabatta, and thanks to its healthy yet soft pumpkin texture, I'll definitely buy it again next time I visit this Yeonnam-dong bakery. Besides that, there were breads made by combining various ingredients like sweet pumpkin, tortilla, chestnut-red bean-mugwort, injeolmi (rice cake), and coconut. Sweet pumpkin ciabatta was ₩6,200, tortilla bread ₩4,300, chestnut red bean mugwort bread ₩7,200, and kaya coconut bread ₩4,500.

Eongdengi bread, chili sausage bread and bacon ciabatta
Eongdengi bread has such a cute name from the start. And when you go to a bakery, don't you always end up looking for a bread with sausage in it? There was even chili sausage bread among the varied lineup. And here's another recommendation — the bacon ciabatta is delicious. I tasted it and it's one of the breads I bought and ate last time too.

Chestnut bread at Mandong Jegwa, 4,900 won
Chestnut bread is ₩4,900. If you like chestnut bread, you have to grab this. It's packed with chestnuts and the bread is soft and mild, so it's the kind you keep thinking about.

Why the garlic baguette is Mandong Jegwa's best seller
These are the must-have best menu items at this Yeonnam-dong bakery: onion bagel, garlic baguette, cucumber baguette, and basil tomato bread. The garlic baguette is truly addictive. You know how once you finish it, you keep thinking about it again?

The four breads bought at Mandong Jegwa this time

My top pick, sweet pumpkin ciabatta, along with chestnut bread, mugwort rice cake bread, and shrimp baguette — all of the bread I bought this time were breads I was really satisfied with. Rather than the breads I bought last time, I tried a new lineup, and sweet pumpkin ciabatta, chestnut bread, shrimp baguette, and mugwort rice cake bread were all no-fail choices.
