Osan hanjeongsik with green tea rice and dried yellow croaker: Bomseol
In short
Bomseol Main Branch is a hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal) restaurant on Oesammi-ro in Osan, Gyeonggi, that draws diners from nearby Dongtan. On the weekday-only Deulbap Tray for two, the writer added bori gulbi (salt-dried yellow croaker) and worked through braised pollock, pot rice and cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), then poured Boseong green tea over the rice and topped each spoonful with the croaker. From the banchan to the fish, Bomseol Main Branch was satisfying enough that a return visit is already decided.

Today I'm sharing my lunch review from Bomseol, a well-known hanjeongsik (Korean set meal) spot near Dongtan, plus some useful info to know before you go!

Is Bomseol Main Branch in Osan worth a return visit? The verdict first
Let me get straight to the point! I think I'll definitely be back 👍 We went for a weekday lunch, and they have a weekday-only Field Rice Table menu! The basic side dishes came out amazing. We also added dried yellow croaker (boribulgi) on top, and honestly everything — sides and main dishes alike — was so delicious and great value that a repeat visit is basically confirmed!
Bomseol Main Branch: location, hours and menu

Bomseol Main Branch, known for doing hanjeongsik well near Dongtan, sits right in front of Hongjonghын Bakery Main Branch. The dining hall is huge and there's a large parking lot too, so it's a great spot for group visits! Hours run from 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM with a break time from 3 to 5 PM, and they stay open as usual during the Chuseok holiday!

The Korean cuisine master chef behind Bomseol Main Branch
And here's the thing — they have a certified Korean food master chef. I visited without knowing that, but the side dishes, the dried yellow croaker, the braised pollock — all so good that I took a closer look around the restaurant and found they'd swept every master craftsman award for their dried yellow croaker! No wonder it came out so well made!

If you haven't picked out a Chuseok gift yet, booking ahead at Bomseol Main Branch could get you a refined, delicious gift set!

The menu covers all the hanjeongsik hits — the weekday-only Field Rice Table we ordered, a set for two with soy crab and dried yellow croaker, the Master's Table set for four with dried yellow croaker, soy crab, hairtail, jeyuk (spicy stir-fried pork), braised pollock, and cockles, plus a new menu item called mountain-high bulgogi.

You can also buy sesame and perilla oil-glazed rice snacks (gangjeong) to take home!

At the self bar you can help yourself to barley rice, and there's a tasting of Bomseol's sesame and perilla oils right there, so you can try before you buy!
What comes with the Deulbap Tray for two plus dried yellow croaker

We ordered the Field Rice Table for two and added dried yellow croaker on top. The basic side dishes came out — the usual suspects like bracken fern, radish salad, lotus root, garlic scapes — but honestly, they were different. Maybe it's the chef's touch, but I felt like I could finish a whole bowl of rice on those side dishes alone!

And ordering the Field Rice Table also got us braised pollock!? The flesh was so plump,,,!!! Wait, is this really included at this price...? Anyway, the pollock was delicious too. They clearly know how to cook fish well overall, so I'd recommend the dried yellow croaker to anyone who visits!

The rice came in a hot stone pot, and it was absolutely delicious.

Dried yellow croaker served with the bones already removed
They debone the dried yellow croaker for you before serving. Personally, I think this dish is pretty tricky to cook well, and the quality difference between places can be huge! My husband loves dried yellow croaker and we've tried it all over, and this place really nails it.

I soaked rice in Boseong green tea and topped it with a piece of dried yellow croaker — wow~ the mild rice met the salty croaker perfectly, and it completely woke up my appetite!

They also serve a thin cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), and honestly, it was so good too.... Every single side dish, the braised pollock, the dried yellow croaker — it all added up to a really satisfying meal. If you're looking for a great hanjeongsik spot in Osan, or a place near Dongtan that does Korean set meals well, I'd recommend Bomseol Main Branch!
